3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 hayduke (2933) - Eureka, California, USA - JUN 22, 2011
Found this at Paul’s Grocery in McCall ID. it poured blood red color with a big pink tinged creamy white head which faded away totally in just a few seconds. The nose is tart cherry, with a blast of floral hop aromas. Medium body and lively dry mouthfeel. The flavor brings out the oak barrels, caramel malts, cherry, and lots of alcohol. Dry finish with the cherry and oak hanging on the tongue. An unusual beer and while refreshing in some respects a little odd in others. Not quite up to the standards of a real cherry flavored belgian ale, but a reasonable facsimile
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 corby112 (2214) - philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 11, 2011
Pours a dark golden ruby color with cherry/blood red edges and a half finger fizzy pink head that quickly fades into lasting ring. Not much lacing.
Sweet fruit aroma with earhty oak and vanilla. Lots of sweet cherry which is kind of artificial/syrupy smelling. Some boozy alcohol sweetness but the cherries overpower the nose.
Medium bodied with tight carbonation, earthy oak and vanilla with dark fruits underneath that blend well with the sweet cherry flavor. Slight maracino cherry juice flavor with a boozy punch. Not as sweet or syrupy as the aroma suggests. Pretty well balanced actually and the ABV is nicely masked.

Fizzy white head that diminished into a thin ivory ring. Vibrant dark crimson/tangerine colored body. Truly the same shade as the meat of a plum...take a bite and peer inside. Nose of cherry skin, yeast, wood, and vanilla. Flavor is tart cherry, barrel, and a bit too much alcohol. Fairly hot and a bit distracting. Medium mouthfeel with the sour sticking to the palate long after the sip.

Bottle thanks to Douglas. Pours a clear pinkish red with a white head that had a pink hue and dissipates to the edges. Aroma is full of cherries with a slight note of earthy of grains and a bit of oak as well. Flavor has much more earthy notes with grain and bread backed by a light cherry note and a good amount of oak. Solid.

On tap at church key, this beer was a little of for me at first but really grew on me as the night went on. Big thick sweet malty beer and cherry flavors dominate with little else. Nice!
