Note: batch 5 and all subsequent batches are put into Red Wine Barrels (the batch number is printed on the label). All earlier batches were in White Wine Barrels and should not be rated here. Release 5 of Brainless on Cherries, has a new twist- we used Red Wine (cab and syrah) barrels for the second fermentation and aging as apposed to White Wine barrels. The result, dryer, lighter body, fruit shines thru and a bit of tannin and wood notes in the finish

Definitely not New Glarus. The color and aroma are magnificent, but the cherry flavor is fleeting and weak. Very effervescent. I'm not really sure why it is claimed to be a Belgian Strong. The yeast flavors are indeed Belgian-like, but mild. That being said, it is a good example of a fruit beer and very drinkable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Blood orange color with quickly fading foam. Smells like apricots and funky basement. Sweet and tart cherries with a slight funk and some mild bitterness. Medium-bodied with a very dry finish and low carbonation. Kind of a weird tripel, but definitely worth trying.

22oz bomber from EZ. Poured a very ugly reddish brown body with a fizzy head that tried to establish itself as I poured like a soda head does but it faded as fast as it formed. Aroma was rather vinous overall with notes of Belgian yeast, dry bread crusts, cherry skins, sweet soda notes, honey and oak. Nice body with a medium mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation that finishes dry and has a rather quick fading aftertaste. Flavor isn’t quite as good as the aroma but has some similarities. Notes of dry crusts, yeast, cherry soda, dry wood and some wine. Not bad but has room for improvement.

Batch 7. Pours bright red with a split second pink head. Nose is big sour cherry, roses, soy sauce. Taste is one dimensional. Sweet, bitter and lightly tart all at the same time from start to finish. Mouthfeel is crisp and sticky, light body and long finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared with Eduardo....pours out a rather attractive reddish color with a small white head. Aroma is of medicinal cough syrup, cherries, some yeast, spice and light woody notes. Taste is of medicinal cherries, one dimensional fruity yeast characters, light vanilla, wood. Alcohol rather well hidden.

11/14/12. 22oz bomber shared by nulledge. Clear light red/amber pour with a small khaki head. Light cherry aroma, somewhat like cherry candy, somewhat medicinal. Sweet cherry flavor, alcohol, and more of that cherry medicine aspect. Eh.

Bottle. Pours a pink, red color with a white, fizzy head that disappears quickly. Aroma is cherries, sour, and yeasty. The taste of the cherries and the beer don’t seem to mix well for me. I don’t pick up much of the barrel in this one. Decent, but probably won’t buy again.

Bomber, Batch 6. Poured cloudy peach with a tall, well-retained, looser-bubbled pink-tinted head. The aroma picked up tart cherries, oak, and vinous notes accented by sparkly carbonation.. medium-skinned fruits, banana, and cloves beneath.. more vinous as it warmed up.. I really enjoyed it. The flavor opened with tart oak and vinous notes, with biscuity malts and fruit behind.. red wine and cloves around.. finished dry with cherry dust, oak, and red winey notes.... tasty stuff. Medium-bodied with higher carbonation on the palate.. very dry with good use of the yeast and the barrel.

Beautiful beer in the glass, but not terribly memorable otherwise. Hoppy with some cherry and wood flavors. Does not really seem like a Belgian to me, as it claims to be.
