COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Note: batch 5 and all subsequent batches are put into Red Wine Barrels (the batch number is printed on the label). All earlier batches were in White Wine Barrels and should not be rated here. Release 5 of Brainless on Cherries, has a new twist- we used Red Wine (cab and syrah) barrels for the second fermentation and aging as apposed to White Wine barrels. The result, dryer, lighter body, fruit shines thru and a bit of tannin and wood notes in the finish

Reddish pour, small tannish head. Aroma of cherries, light wine notes, yeast. Flavor is drier than I remember, nice yeasty notes, cherries and sugar cookies.

Very interesting. I don’t understand what is so Belgian about it, outside of the fact that it has cherries in it and it was aged on oak. It is listed at 10.7% alcohol, but you don’t get any heat at all. It has a nice cloudy, red color and pinkish head. It’s really, really good. Subtle flavors, nothing over the top and there is a slight vegetal funk on the nose. It’s pretty cool.

Nicely integrates the barrel, slightly sour, dangerously drinkable. Low carbonation and finishes sweet but not syrupy

Release #5 courtesy of douglas88 pours deep clear cherry juice with white head trimmed with a light pinkish hue. The aroma has some apples and pears as well as some fruity sourness, tartness and then yeasty spices. The taste has a great play going on between tart red wine notes, spicy oak, sweet apples and pears, some sour fruitiness and then rolling into soft spongy yeasty spiciness. This beer is really hitting the spot as all the conflicting notes come together with harmony. Yummers!

The last of the brainless tasting my friends and I enjoyed inside the tent in Zion while it rained cats and dogs slash snowed outside and we were pretty good by this point. Cherries are definitely prominent but in a sweet way. Possibly the best of the bunch, though I do love raspberries more as just the fruit.

Release #27 abv% 10.8. Grape wine color, no head. Sour Cherry cider nose. Slightly sour cherries, soft red wine notes, hint of funk. Never tasted anything like this, very unusual. Finishes with a nice dryness. great.

This is great. The red wine barrels made a huge difference in this beer.

Bottle. The pour was a murky medium cranberry red with a small (1 finger or less) pink fizzy head that quickly dissipated down to a thin puddle and small collar, but did produce some really nice sheets of lace. The aroma was of a mild bread malt and a musty Belgian yeast with strong notes of cherries, red wine, wood and a light hint of alcohol. The taste was sweetly tart and a tad acidic with a big note of cherries early on, with the finish being a bit winey with a woody alcohol finish. The flavor lingered for a really nice long time after the swallow, allowing for the fruity alcohol taste to grow as time went on. Mouthfeel was just above light in body with a very nice dry texture and a fizzy carbonation. Overall a delicious Strong Ale, with the taste of the cherries and cask pretty much masking the high ABV...

Blood orange color with quickly fading foam. Smells like apricots and funky basement. Sweet and tart cherries with a slight funk and some mild bitterness. Medium-bodied with a very dry finish and low carbonation. Kind of a weird tripel, but definitely worth trying.
