4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 KajII (705) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - APR 29, 2012Bottle. The pour was a murky medium cranberry red with a small (1 finger or less) pink fizzy head that quickly dissipated down to a thin puddle and small collar, but did produce some really nice sheets of lace.
The aroma was of a mild bread malt and a musty Belgian yeast with strong notes of cherries, red wine, wood and a light hint of alcohol.
The taste was sweetly tart and a tad acidic with a big note of cherries early on, with the finish being a bit winey with a woody alcohol finish. The flavor lingered for a really nice long time after the swallow, allowing for the fruity alcohol taste to grow as time went on.
Mouthfeel was just above light in body with a very nice dry texture and a fizzy carbonation.
Overall a delicious Strong Ale, with the taste of the cherries and cask pretty much masking the high ABV...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 50belair (1335) - Florida, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Cloudy pinkish amber pour with a whit head. Oak and cherry aromas. Uber evervescent with mild cherry, yeast, with some muted caramel and oak back beats. Not as good as earlier batches..
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 maley1 (470) - calgary, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 1, 2013
Reddish amber pour with small off white head. Aroma of tart cherries, yeast and red wine. Taste of faint cherries, yeast and cheap red wine, slightly dry on the finish. Full bodied, low carbonation, just average.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 phaleslu (4451) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAY 1, 2013
22 oz. bottle from Dutch’s. Release #12. Pours a hazy ruby with a small off-white head. Big cherry funk from this, with floral notes in the form of rose petal, sweet doughy malts. Underlying Belgian yeast character, but not dominant. The barrel character is fairly subdued, as well. Medium-bodied, with fairly low carbonation and a sweet, funky mouthfeel. Good.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 pdx77 (339) - Oregon, USA - APR 28, 2013
On draught at Freakin’ Frog. Light red, almost color of weak red wine. Nice aroma of sour pie cherries. Light yeast and malt flavors with cherry, sweetness, and red wine notes. Hides alcohol content well.
1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 obguthr (3225) - Poquoson, Virginia, USA - APR 27, 2013
Vinous coriander nose, somewhat vegetal, but comes across minty, like the spit after you have just brushed your teeth. Crystal clear copper, headless.Tomatoes, toothpaste, cherries flavor. Odd and unpleasant. Tart, medium body, a little hot. There is so much wrong with this beer I hardly know where to begin. I love the brewery, dislike this series, despise this beer. Little redeeeming value.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 oneeighthcuban (93) - - APR 17, 2013
Smells of cherry, didn’t even know this was a barrel aged beer before I came to rate it. Tartness of the cherries seems to cover up the belgian yeast flavor, but there is a slight hint of it. Pretty tart.
