Note: batch 5 and all subsequent batches are put into Red Wine Barrels (the batch number is printed on the label). All earlier batches were in White Wine Barrels and should not be rated here. Release 5 of Brainless on Cherries, has a new twist- we used Red Wine (cab and syrah) barrels for the second fermentation and aging as apposed to White Wine barrels. The result, dryer, lighter body, fruit shines thru and a bit of tannin and wood notes in the finish

Bottle. The pour was a murky medium cranberry red with a small (1 finger or less) pink fizzy head that quickly dissipated down to a thin puddle and small collar, but did produce some really nice sheets of lace. The aroma was of a mild bread malt and a musty Belgian yeast with strong notes of cherries, red wine, wood and a light hint of alcohol. The taste was sweetly tart and a tad acidic with a big note of cherries early on, with the finish being a bit winey with a woody alcohol finish. The flavor lingered for a really nice long time after the swallow, allowing for the fruity alcohol taste to grow as time went on. Mouthfeel was just above light in body with a very nice dry texture and a fizzy carbonation. Overall a delicious Strong Ale, with the taste of the cherries and cask pretty much masking the high ABV...

From a 22 oz bottle at home. Pours an opaque light reddish brown with a scant off white head. Aroma of sour pie cherries.Flavors of cherry cobbler. Sweet followed by tart finish.

Formidable cherry aroma, dark fruit, and yeasty esters. Pours light brown body with pinkish hue. Thin white head with zero sustainability. Tart, somewhat acidic, taste of cranberry and cherry with a clove-like spiciness. Dry, semi-sweet finish with gentle wood flavor and some wine characteristics.

Aroma: cherries, sweet, belgian zesty notes, peachy. Appearance: amber-reddish color, nice white head. Taste: almost no bitterness, amazing balance between sweetness and sour cherries notes, peach, zesty, nice dry champagne finish, perfectly covered alcohol, woody and some vanilla notes. Palate: medium body and medium carbonation. Overall: Great beer, complex taste, perfectly desgined beer.

Not as cherry centric as I was hoping for. Some barrel and wine come through, as does too much strength and sweetness, as with the other fruited brainless beers. Nice enough drink, but they cost too much for this level of quality.

I get nice woody, oaky aromas with vanilla and almost whiskey like. Taste is similar. I feel like there are whiskey flavors in there, but then can almost get the spicy red wine character as well. Cherry is an afterthought on this one. Does have almost a slight medicinal finish, but it is complex and a very nice beer overall. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Served on tap in a chalice glass Appearance – The beer is served red tinted golden color with a tiny bit of fizzy white foam. The head fades rather rapidly, leaving just a trace of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is strongest of some cherry smells as well as a little bit of biscuit and some yeast. Along with these smells are some aromas of grain and a oak and a little bit of a white wine smell. Taste – Upfront the taste is strongest drier cherry flavor mixed with a somewhat white wine and oaky taste. As the taste advances a little bit of a yeasty taste comes to the tongue, being accompanied by a little bit of fruity (mostly cherry) sweetness. The sweetness however is short lived and seems to fades as the taste moves on, all while a little bit of grass and some biscuit come to the tongue. With some more oak and a decent sum of booze coming at the very end one is left with a somewhat cherry wine-triple flavor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the slightly thinner side for the 5.7 % abv. of the brew with it containing a carbonation level that is rather average to a little bit lighter. Not bad for the triple style, although a little bit of a higher carbonation level may have been slightly more appropriate. Overall, it was an OK feel. Overall – A decent triple overall, but certainly not really worth the higher price tag you are likely to pay. Maybe give it a try, but don’t expect anything all that out of the ordinary for a triple.

651 ml. bottle. Release# 27. Den# 1553. 11% ABV. Pours a minimal, rapidly dispersing off white head, over a clear copper (SRM 17) body.....nose is slight cherry, light base malts, no hops.....taste is slightly sweet, with light cherry, minimal base malts, no hops, balance to the cherry......mouth feel, light of medium body, slightly harsh alcohol warmth present, fizzy carbonation. This particular bottle is a very light in all characteristics. The cherry, barrel, malts and hops are all relatively hidden. The result is almost as bad as the proverbial malt beverage made by the Industrial brewers. BJCP 6/2/10/4/5

Everything is too tame in this. Very very ligt cherry with a light belgian ale background. No booze for such a strong beer. Cherry is so weak.

This beer cost $10.50. It had a sweeter taste which definitely came from the cherries.
