COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Copper Cone Pale Ale is a special offering, aroma rich, pale ale that may vary the hops, malts and even sometime the yeast used. Typically this beer is an “over the top” Pale Ale with a deep copper color and loads of dry hopping going into each batch. The fresh hop aroma of this beer makes it a stand out. Stronger in alcohol and body than CAPT’N CROMPTON’S PALE ALE and appeals to beer aficionados.

Bomber. Fresh hoppy nose, orange, peach, light lychee, a bit of caramel. Pretty orange-amber color wit a fine head. Very hoppy flavor—very bitter—lots of citrus, tartness coming from hops, orange and grapefruit. Nice hop showcase.

Pours well, a copper body with a thin filmy tan white head that laces theglass. This smells like caramel coated plywood and a hint of peanut butter. Taste is not plywood, but is fucking bitter. Grass and resin. Finish is roasted sugar. The hop flavor leaves something burnt tasting on my tongue.

A - Pours a cloudy copper-orange with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some nice lacing. S - Aroma is grapefruit, pineapple, citrus, and pine hops with sweet caramel and bready malts. T - Starts off with grapefruit, pineapple, mango, and citrus hops with some bitterness and some sweet caramel malts. Through the middle, some pine hop come through with some more bitterness and some bready malts. The finish is a mix of sweet bready malts with grapefruit and pine hops and some bitterness. M - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with dry, bitter, and lightly sweet finish. D - Very drinkable. Nice hoppy APA. Good hop profile and bitterness with a good malt and hop balance.

On tap at Pour House, pours a very hazy brown tinted orange color with 2 finger creamy off white head, medium lacing. Aromas are strong pine, grapefruit, biscuity malts, ultra hoppy aroma for a pale ale. Taste is just as hoppy as smell with pine, grapefruit, orange peel and tropical fruits all coming through. It finishes with a nice malt background. Medium on the bitter scale. Very nice pale ale that is more of an ipa.

Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of pine and resin hops with light dry caramel malt base. Taste is also a mix between some resin and pine hoppy notes with some dry caramel malt. Body is about average with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well brewed and quite enjoyable with pretty good hops punch for an APA.

Bottle from GBBF 2012, drunk at home. Now the problem with this beer is that I am trying to cook at the same time. And I’m sat at my table with the laptop but the glass with the beer in it is still on the kitchen worktop. So I have a laptop, but no beer. Right time to do something about this. I’m now going to the kitchen to drink the beer and cook and then I shall come back and rate it. Hold on a minute, I’ll be right back...... Right it’s a very good pale ale. I like the hops. Sweetish like a lot of these American beers. Yes a smooth mouthfeel, bitterness on finish. Lots of pine resin and grapefruit and really rather good I thought. Yep I’d happily have this most days.

Bottled@chriso. Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is bready, resin, mild dusty wood, some yeastyness and mild toffee. Flavour is bready, caramelly, mild herbal and dry wooden. Big maltyness.

The aroma starts with a blast of pine and citrus, which switches over to more caramel notes. It pours a clear dark amber, with a towering white head. Slick mouthfeel, with a medium body. The beer has a hint of caramel malts, as the hops then overpower it, leading to a nice blast of hop bitterness. It does seem to lack some of the subtleties of the better IPA’s, but it is a solid entry into the field.
