COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our lightest in terms of alcohol comes in at 4.8% by volume so that malt can dominate the flavor profile. Caramel sweet malt all over the palate with a noticeable “jumping just over the barrier” citrus hop aroma. Surprisingly refreshing for such a malt driven ale. Truly and all season American Amber.

Appearance: Pours a hazed, appropriately amber-hued body with a sporadic, stray, whitish head.

Smell: Spiced, caramel enveloped toasted malt with teensy fruit notes.

Taste: Moderately toasty malts with a fair degree of caramel sweetness. Low fruitiness of apricot, perhaps a bit of apple. Light spice accent. Hint of citrus. Subtly bitter. Drying, soft finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: A clean, refreshing, welcome amber ale with a likable ABV.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy dark amber, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, cookie), lightly to moderately hoppy (apricot, flowers, grapefruit), with light notes of mango and black tea, hint of ginger. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety/creamy texture, lively carbonation. Well, I’ll be damned. This is quite a solid bitter (pale ale, amber ale, whatever Americans want to call it, it’s an English bitter). Pleasant and enticing balance of cookie-caramel malt and fruity hops and esters, can’t go wrong with that. Clean and balanced in the mouth, velvety-creamy mouthfeel, lasting head, bottle conditioned. Reminds me a bit of Santa Fe Pale Ale. A lot better than I was expecting based on their Elevated/Exponential specialty series, which so far have still failed to impress...kept passing this up in the store ’cause who cares about another fricking amber ale, right? Well, I’d buy this again for sure...4.8% and not priced at the stupid levels of most breweries these days ($4.50/bomber). Good on ya for this one, Epic.

Aroma: nice mild fruity hop bouquet, sweet malts, slight dustiness
Appearance: amber, tan head that will not go down
Taste: great malt profile, hops that add a fruity character, nutty
Palate: medium bodied, easy drinking
Overall: I was very surprised that I enjoyed this amber this much. I won’t be afraid to order another one when it is available.

22oz bottle-thanks to jtclockwork for sharing–pours a disappearing light tan head and copper color. Aroma is faint light/medium malt-some caramel, slight ops bitter. Taste is medium malt-caramel/roasty, some hops bitter. Towards medium body.

22oz bottle from the brewery - had this a couple of times but haven’t gotten around to rating it. Pours a hazy copper color with medium sized light tan head. Aroma is bready and toasty, with light caramel and dry toast, a faint hint of orange peel. Flavor has a firm malty backbone, with medium caramel, toasty notes, and a bit of dry oak. Finish is balanced. This is alright but nothing amazing.

Pours a nice amber, with 1/2" head. Light malt aroma, with a light to medium body, and a decent acidic kick at the end.

Very nice amber with a lot of lager qualities. Pours amber of course with a small head. The aroma has biscuit, yeast, malt. The flavor has the same with a bit of bitterness in the end. Dry finish.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 9/26/11

Aroma: Has kind of faint nose, what is there is sweet, caramel, and fruity notes (maybe a little apple?)
Appearance: This one pours a cloudy dark orange color with small beige head and light lace on the glass
Flavor: The taste is fairly sweet, it is similar to the nose, mostly caramel/ toffee malts, and just a touch tart
Palate: The body is light-medium, with a decent feel, tingly carbonation, and a lasting, slightly dry finish
Overall Impression: This is an alright Amber beer. It was drinkable enough, but it wasn’t particularly exciting. Decent stuff, I don’t have a ton more to add beyond that...

Had this during the 2011 Shenandoah Throwdown. Touches of smoke and sweet malt and toast. Toast and sweet malt. Sweet and malty, with a light bitterness and a touch of caramel. Toast and malt on the finish.
