22 oz. bottle, split with manuchampions and uhlan, pours a cloudy golden yellow wit a small white head. Aroma of soap, underwear, brett, yeast and lemon peel. Flavour of lemon / citrus peel, soap, some tartness, and some white wine barrels. Well-balanced with a nice tart vinous quality. Good.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
poured from 22 bomber - Not sure what to say? I like the candied green apple aroma and taste--high yeast with some bread. You have to love the champagne and acidity! But everything about this is subtle--including the alcohol. I have to say that this is one of the most unique beers I have ever tried, but no where near the best.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
(22oz bottle. Release #1). Pours hazy golden with white head that falls quickly. Active carbonation. Quite a bit of yeast in suspension. Aroma has tart green apples, grapes, and a bit of earthiness. Taste is sweet and sour. I was surprised about the tartness here. Actually, its what I was hoping for in their sour apple saison. Thin bodied with a dry finish. The alcohol is hidden very well and its drinks easily especially on a hot day. Iíd drink a gallon of this on a hot Arizona summer day if the abv was cut in half.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
bottle. tutti frutti candied fruit nose early softens with time and warmth into basement must, lime and chardonnay notes. the acid is a tad strong, especially late on the back of the tongue, where it feels like it catches fire with ethanol. front to back it goes from soft and delicate to brash, prickly and potent. still the candied generic fruit flavor remains long into a sour apple jolly rancher tannic oak barrel finish. though the first few whiffs seemed like cotton candy, it blossomed into something pretty astounding, aroma-wise. flavor, well, itís a bit too off-balance in favor of alcohol and acids and rough tannins.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a hazy golden color with medium sized white head. Aroma is funky and full of Bret and hay. Taste is a light sour not to mouth puckering and a bit acidic. Palate has lively carbonation and feels a bit thin. Over all a good saison an would drink it again.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of sweet citrus, lemon, floral notes, light band-aid, and straw. It pours hazy dull gold with lots of sediment and a two finger white head that quickly fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. There is some decent webbing left behind on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of sweet citrus notes. Light-moderate apple (somewhat cider-ish) notes come into play in the middle. The finish has light-moderate lemon, straw, light floral notes, a touch of band-aid, and pepper. As it warms, some signs of the 8.8% start to come through. Itís light-medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation. Overall, itís pretty refreshing and quite an easy drinker for 8.8%.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The pour is a hazy, goldenrod color with a moderate, white, frothy head which is mostly diminishing and leaves some similar lace. The nose is funky with earth and mushrooms, tart lemony brett, a papaya note, slight spice, and faint vanilla. The flavor is similar with vanilla matching the tart lemony notes, cinnamony spice, a floral/chamomile presence, and similar papaya notes. The palate is medium, silky, lively, and creamy. The finish has vanilla and chamomile, some light tartness, and cinnamon lingering. A very well built beer with complementary tart and barrel notes. The intriguing fruit and herb notes were unique to the beer and the bretty funk was nice as well. The spicy note just added to the otherwise drinkable 9% beer. Nice beer from CS and Epic.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Head is initially small, fizzy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is hazy medium to dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), lightly to moderately yeasty (barnyard), with notes of band-aid, lemon zest, sour apple, pepper, oak, alcohol.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic.
Quite nice. The aroma is an attractive blend of characteristics from all levels of the process...ingredients, fermentation, and barrel aging. Do I wish it was less boozy and sweet? Of course. But then, itís not a saison, after all (and I really wish they had just left that word off the label..."Elder Brett Belgian-Style Golden Ale" would have been sooooooo much better, and you donít have to say "Brett" twice in the same breath for crying out loud). Mind you, itís not cloyingly sweet by any means...thereís enough acidity, bitterness, and alcohol in the finish to prevent the sugars from outwearing their welcome (but donít let it warm up too much, it gets harder to drink as it sits in the glass). But itís a big, boozy beer. Itís definitely nice for what it is, but I donít know that Iíd buy it again at $12 a bomber (sigh).

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle - Release #1. Pours hazed amber with a short, fizzy white head. Aroma has hints of sulphur/egg, funky yeast, damp leather, earthy notes, spicy notes, flowers, and fruit notes. The sulphur faded after I let the beer breath for a bit. Taste is sweet malt, candi sugar, ripe fruits, funky yeast, citrus, spices, straw, soft earthiness, leather and soft sweat. Body is medium with a strong, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more candi sugar, ripe fruits, sweet malt, spices, big yeast notes, wood, leathery notes and sweat.
