3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Not quite fall, but just purchased, i can pretend. Pour: nice copper brown, off white copper head. Nose: caramel malts, very malty sweet with a light spicy hop aroma at the end. Taste: to agree with smell sweet light caramel malts, with a light spice hop profile. not a ground breaker, but has a subtle calm taste.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Caramel orange with a white head. Sweet but sharp aroma with earthy hops. Medium to full body. Flavor is malt forward with nice round sweetness that leads to a subtle earth background. It regains it’s malt sweetness with a very crisp finish. Very enjoyable fest brew.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Slightly sour and woody aroma from a clear copper/orange body. Initial taste is of band-aids and some kind of medicinal bitterness. I’ll admit I didn’t think that I would continue drinking this much longer after that taste, but it does kind of grow on you and evolves into a more barnyard type taste. A bit of lemony citrus flavor comes out along with some hay. I was expecting more of a fall harvest amber, but with a name like Fest Devious from Epic, I guess I should have known better. While I probably wouldn’t buy this again, it was interesting.

Release #23, 5.9% abv. Aroma of malt and slight hop note. Taste of a marzen, slightly sweet, malty, with just a hint of hops in the background. A drinkable fall brew, thumbs up.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured into a pint glass.
3.5 A: Mildly hazed orange amber color. One and a half fingers of frothy off-white head. Retention is very good and a very short ring of lacing is left.
3.5 S: Big toastiness in this. Dry, grainy maltiness. Caramel malts. Simple, clean, good.
4.25 T: Wow, the taste is just so much better than I was expecting after the nose. It’s big and bold with toastiness leading the way. Not as dry as the nose either. Indeed, it has a great balance between the toastiness and the caramel sweetness. Again clean with a slight yeasty richness.
4.5 M: Heavier medium body. Thick and velvety creamy. While it is a touch chewy, it’s only minorly so. Very good here.
4.25 D: Overall a very tasty, super easy to drink beer. Pick this one up.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The pour is the color of a roasted almond, cloudy and capped with an off-white foam, about a finger deep. My first craft beer was a Marzen, back in...well, never mind. It was a long time ago, anyway. I am not excited about trying this as it’s so far past the season, but damnit, take it off the shelf if you’re worried about what people think.
The aroma is sweet, nuts and malt, some crackers. The first pull is a mirror of the aroma, very sweet, those crackers coming through in abundance, malt and caramel. The nuttiness in the aroma is there in the flavor, and I find the taste sweet with a mild bitterness at the back of my throat. The medium bodied brew is slightly creamy on my tongue and lightly carbonated; the finish a touch long, but quite pleasant.
Overall, I’ve got to say that I’m surprised at the beer, my enjoyment of it at this late date. It’s certainly had its day, and this is not it, but it has held up very well considering. The malts are quite tasty, the body comfortable and the carbonation is great. Not my favorite, but certainly not a bad brew. Next year, I’ll try their presentation of this style within the season. See what they’ve got.
