Bottle from Capitol Beer, Sacramento. Pours copper with an attractive beige head and a toffee and citrus aroma. There is a hearty caramel malt flavor with a powerfully bitter Waimea hop finish. Very malty for an IPA.

A beautiful looking, crystal clear ale, and maybe that’s where the problem is. It has the elements of good flavour and aroma, but I do wonder if the spectacular-ness has been filtered out? As it is it is a nice beer, but way too polite to be memorable.

Bottle from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours clear copper with a frothy white head. Aroma of mildly roast malt with burnt rubber. Med body. Flavor is mildly roast malt with burnt rubber/citrus. Never thought those were similar, but live and learn. It’s finishing hoppy and quite, well , hoppy. If you are a hop addict, this should be good for you. So how is burnt rubber good? Heck if I know, but it’s working for me.

Clear amber to copper pour with a tall, creamy, chunky beige head that fades pretty quickly to a thick skim and leaves a little lacing. Lots of floral and fruity notes in the aroma, nice toat, cereal, juicy citrus and a hint of mango heavy tropical fruit. Flavor is very toasty and nutty up front, some pine, then grapefruit, passion fruit, mango, floral, fruity notes, striking me more as yeast related than hop a decent amount of grapefruit bitterness to the finish and a hint of anise. Medium body, creamy entry, juicy middle, moderate strength, blanketing carbonation and a crisp, off dry finish. Pretty damn good. It has a nice hop profile, though it could use more of them. I definitely have to wonder how good this might be in a younger state, as I doubt the trip from Auckland, New Zealand to Iowa U.S.A. was in a time frame quick enough to be IPA friendly.

Light amber, aroma is med and vaguely fruity, a fair bit of bitterness. Not all that bright, mind you.

Light bronze copper.Very clear.Short head, light lace. Mild-medium aroma of floral spice and fruit.Probably some sweet caramel malt. Light toast/breadiness.THe spice seems to stand out most overall. Taste is very smooth slickish, very spicey/piney like hoppiness. Fairly dry somewhat crisp.Light sweet fruit/citrus. Smooth mild slick and clean and dry.Pretty bitter. Dry pale toast malt. Spicey earthy bitter with some citrus hints some grassyness.Pretty good but of a few others from Epic not to big on this one.Solid ipa though. Plenty of other 7% ipa’s I preferr over this.

On tap at the Alehouse Project. Intense IPA. Aromas of caramel, grass, hay, and liquorice. Taste is sweet and bitter, with long length. Palate is velvety, with lively carbonation, and medium body. Amber, bubbly, with a thin head.
