3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 omhper (17461) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - JUL 26, 2010
Bottled at The Beerhive, Salt Lake City, UT. Dark brown, rich firm head. Mild coffee aroma. Mid sweet with soft, well defined maltiness. Coffee and mild caramel, mildly hopped. The rather subtle flavours in this porter can blossom, thanks to the excellently well crafted malt profile, where the gentle softness allows full access to the slightest whisper of flavour.

Dark brown. Thick head. Chocolate nose with some acidity and toasty malt complexity. Soft, rich cocoa notes. Well-balanced. Nice porter.

Bottle. Poured a dark brown color with an average frothy light brown head that mostly lasted and produced fair lacing. Moderate roasted coffee dark chocolate aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium roasted burnt coffee flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a drinkable soft brew.

Dark brown pour. Light tan head. Roasty aroma with some light prune notes and a bit of chocolate. Flavor is ashy and roasty...a light bitterness finishes this nice. Some chocolate notes sneak up and make this a nice brew.
3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Sammy (7034) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 3, 2012
Very drinkable porter. Nothing extreme, just a good balance of malt and bitterness, though would have liked somewhat more of the latter. Black, with complementary dark brown bubbly head. Some licorice in the aroma. Slightly above average mouthfeel.

Bomber. Poured clear, deeper garnet-tinted brown with a short cap of khaki head. The aroma picked up sweet milk chocolate and molasses notes, backed by vanilla, chocolate, and lesser coffee.. lactose sourness cut through it well.. still a hair too sweet. The flavor found more of the tart lactose throughout.. caramel and molasses sweetness supported, with lesser vanilla.. lots of grainy residual sugars on the finish (mostly vanilla and molasses).. odd clash between the residual sugars and milky sourness on the finish. Medium-bodied with just an OK flow across the palate.. not a great one, but I’d probably drink it again.

Bottle @ home. Deep brown appearance with a sizable, brown head. Roasty, nutty, dark brown malty nose. Light espresso, nutty, toasty, dark chocolate malty flavor. Nutty, espresso aftertaste. Pretty boring.

Courtesy of douglas88. Pours deep mahogany with thin copper edges and tall tan head. The aroma is musty dark roasted malts, a touch of chocolate and a bit of burnt malts. The taste is smooth with a brief pulse of caramel malts quickly moving into dark roasted malts and a thin ribbon of burnt malts. After a few ounces a touch of smoke comes to the surface adding to the experience.
