This wonderful hoppy lager is a new addition to our ever-expanding Exponential (Seasonal) Series. The Crystal hops give it a clean spice while the Calypso hops give it a pleasant, almost fruity aroma. Easy to drink, perfect for a summer day out.

22 oz bottle. Pours a yellow, urine color with a slight haze and a small white head. The aroma and flavor have pale malts, light grains, some citrus, and catty hops. The flavor has less citrus. OK for what it is, but they brew many more beers that I would rather have.

Pour on tap at the brewery, hazy orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of slight grass, pine notes, hints of spice into some caramel, toffee, slight earthy tones with a touch of fruit. Taste is a mix of grass, pine, some earth and spice into some caramel, hints of red fruit, finishing fairly bitter.

Pours very pale, lightly hazy, with a small head and some lacing on the glass.

The aroma is honey and crisp malt... it’s pretty hop forward with some catty kind of hoppiness.

The flavor is clean and citrusy with some honey malt flavor. It’s nicely bitter with a bunch of fruit forward hops as well as a smattering of the more herbal hop varietals.

Pretty nice.

Bottle. Mild grapefruit, grass, mineral, fruity. Nice clean finish. I do like these IPLs, but as this one is extremely sessionable, it is not as complex and hoppy as I would prefer. Still pretty good.

Draft at the Denver tap room - a very clean and straightforward hoppy lager - the pils malt provides a clean and balanced sweetness for the zesty, spicy, moderately bitter hoppiness to take hold of the palate - a mild mineral bite finishes, leaving a clean, refreshing finish.

Draft sample at Epic Brewing taproom, Denver. Pours clear pale golden with a white head. Aroma of grain, malt, citrus and light fruity hops. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and bitter. Light bodied with light carbonation. Good for the style.

Tap @ the brewery. Pours a clear golden beer with a small white head on top. Aroma is faint caramel, grassy hops and some malty, grainy notes. Flavour is very nice for a lager, very bitter and full flavored, while it has the easy going body of a lager. Nice lager for sure.

Hop Syndrome pours a murky golden with a frothy white head. Very nice evergreen nose with hints of grass and melons. The flavor and body to me fall a little flat. Overall I would have enjoyed a cleaner, crisper beer that showcased the hops better. It was decent.

Pours straw yellow with thick fluffy white head. Aroma is crisp and clean with sweet malt and yeast and spice hops. Taste is straw-like malt upfront with some light floral grassy hops on the follow through. Aftertaste is floral and herbal hops that linger nicely. Palate is thin and slightly sticky. Overall a pretty solid lager.

Batch 12; Sampled July 2013 A vigorous pour into my Sierra Nevada IPA glass produces an almost three finger thick, pale, off-white colored head, that leaves a spotty, layered lacing on the sides of my glass as it slowly subsides. The beer is a bright gold color that shows a brilliantly clear, pale gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma has a light Meyer lemon like note to it at first, but then gets more fruit focused with notes of lychee, tangelo zest, perhaps a touch of guava, and just a nicely floral fruitiness. Backing aromatic of straw like grain, and some chewy pale malt cracker like character is also found here in the aroma.

The beer has a nice spritzy carbonation and quite a light, quaffable body. Up front there is a perceived sweetness due to all the hoppy fruit notes, but the finish is quite dry with a lingering light bitterness and hay like grain character. Up front notes of lychee, guava, and tangelo zest are muted compared to the aroma, but still quite prominent. A firm bitterness throughout the profile of each sip adds a nice bite, but also accentuates a pine like note and perhaps a touch of sharp herbal character. Simple pale malt cracker notes, and perhaps a touch of rustic white bread flavors add a nice, though supporting, counterpoint to the hop notes. As the beer warms up a bit it gets a touch more malty, though it remains hop dominated if not a touch more herbal in character as well.

Simplistic, clean, refreshing, and hoppy, a nice easy drinking beer that is just eminently quaffable. One of the simpler beers I have had from Epic, and definitely one of the better ones as well.
