3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 snuffla (155) - Chch, - JUN 10, 2011
Lots going on aroma-wise, really nice; Gooseberry, lime, pineapple, resiny pine, passionfruit.
Little bit disappointing thereafter, lacked a bit of bitterness to balance the big malt body supporting the hops. Slight creamy minerality about the mouth and a little alcohol heat coming through in the finish.
So, tl;dr - Smells nice, tastes ok, little underwhelming

when i first heard about hop zombie I thought it was going to be an over the top beer with way too much bitterness. I was exactly right - its absolutely superb! when Luke said enjoy it as you wont see it again for a while I was gutted.

Hops are fabulous. But Nelson Sauvin are not good when used in excess...the smell is certainly remniscent of cat urine.

Floral and citrus. Yellow and golden. A sweet, bitter and alcohol palatte balance. Citrusy and fresh. Kinda like a bitter limoncello.
4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Brenhophead (218) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - NOV 6, 2011
Pours a nice golden colour with a nice fluffy head and wow passionfruit, mango on the nose what a great aroma. the flavour its quit as intense as the aroma although it has a very nice passionfruit & hop resin kick to it that sits well on the palate. Over all i would say this is a champion beer.

Aroma: Boom! an immediate and sustained hit of sensational strong hop aromas - tropical fruit, pine resin, and a hint of lemon blossom, light caramel, grass and straw aromas sneak in but only just. Appearance: crystal clear rich deep golden hue, white frothy diminishing head, lacing that leaves fading pictures of zombies. Taste: the aroma taste and palate all blend together well, sweet with a long bitter finish. Palate: medium body, complex texture, light carbonation. Overall: a hop junkies humongous hop fix, a first class heavenly hop fuelled sensory extravaganza. Great stuff

Straw colour with thin white head. Huge floaral hop aroma. Pure hop residue, big citrus flavour which stun the taste buds.

The last but by no means least of my NZ Beery trilogy thanks to Greig and Ostreetbrewery! Oh what a beauty, this slides nicely into my top three double ipa’s and not one of them is from the US! This is my kind of beer though, big juicy green tasting hops like you’ve just picked em and stuffed them into a glass and yet the best thing about it is how light it feels on the palate, certainly doesn’t feel like 8.5%...i chopped this down in about half an hour on a sunday afternoon...and then had a snooze! Loved it!
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Stew41 (1459) - Woodend, AUSTRALIA - SEP 3, 2011
Epic’s best beer? Shows a level of intergration and balance that some of the other IPA styles can fail to show. Very seemless with a massively fruity nose but a more controlled palate as the fruit takes a back seat to a layer of bitter aniseed and a faint touch of pepper. Just so easy to suck down. Really impressive.

Very pale and clear colour, almost pilsner like. The aroma was great! Big hops, lots of complex hop and fruit aromas happening, quite grassy too. But the palate and flavour was quite dissapointing. It dropped off very quickly and didn’t back up the aroma. So, I was actually a little disspointed in this beer.
