Hopulent IPA is a big beer with lots of complex malt flavor and excessive hops. This beer will have changes to the grain bill and seasonal hop changes. The character of Hopulent IPA is over the top, too much of everythingóa real HOP HEADS DELIGHT!

Bottle from Vienna Whole Foods. Pours a thin hazy orange-yellow with fluffy white head. Very sweet when it first hits the tongue, but bitter hops quickly come through, though not quite enough bitterness to balance out the sweetness. A lot of cararmel malt here as well. Finish is very hoppy and earthy and bit overpowering. Some alcohol as well. Not a particularly well balanced beer.

Bottle: Cloudy gold with a bubbly ring head. Aromas of musty citrus and cleaning ammonia. Yikes, Iíve had better IPAís. Flavors of a sweaty t-shirt that was left in the locker. Lots of carbonation and it leaves kind of an off-taste in the mouth. Mediocre.

22oz bomber. Release #10. Now hereís a DIPA I can really enjoy. The brewery didnít feel obligated to boost the alcohol just because itís a DIPA, and I salute them for it. Nice hazy peach pour with a good head and great lacing. Nose is pine and citrus with a hint of bread. Taste recapitulates the nose and throws in a little malt to round things out. The alcohol does rear its head right at the end., but itís not too strong. Mouthfeel is smooth and slightly oily - just the way I like it. Finish starts out fruity and then elevates to a long-lasting bitterness. Iíll buy more of this.

This is a nice high alcohol IPA. The beer has a very nice aroma of flowers and sweetness. The taste follows with a very sweet palate that is pleasant with good body and a enjoyable hop taste that lingers.

The beer pours a hazy, rusty, goldenrod color with a full, eggshell, creamy, fluffy head which is mostly lasting and leaves, soapy, sticky lace. The nose is a bit bland for the style, light floral, candied orange, slight spicy resin, and a light cardboard note. The flavor is similar with some floral and spicy resins, candied oranges, tangerine, and still a slight cardboard with a nearly high bitterness. The palate is medium, lively, and silky. The beer finishes still with faint cardboard, tangerine, and the resinous bitterness lingering. Truthfully I thought the beer was well put together for the style with a very pleasant bitterness, but the cardboard and the fact that it seemed a bland do not sit well with me. I have been less than impressed with this new brewery, but I am looking forward to some different styles from them.

Bottle, release #10: Pours a clear deep golden brass with a spotty-lacing white head. Has a fairly fresh grapefruit and piny hop nose with some light pale malty sweetness. Starts with pretty good fullness and chewy light malty sweetness with a touch of floral honey before giving way to an assertive hoppy balance of bitterness and citrus flavor. Finishes semi-sweet and hides its alcohol well. Seems a little bit under-attenuated, but still a pretty good double-IPA.

Bottle - Release #10 - 8.3% ABV. Murky orange amber pour with a short, beige head. Strong citrus (candied orange, especially), spicy hops and pine in the nose. Some caramel and sweet malt in there as well. Taste strengthens the candied orange and elicits orange popsicles in fleeting moments. Also there are orange oils, sweet malt, caramel, light pine, and spicy and earthy hops. Body is medium with a strong, dense carbonation. Ends with more orange, candied orange, hops resins, light pine, caramel and spicy hops.

22oz bomber, release #10, 8.3% abv from grape & gourmet. pours a hazy, orange gold with a thick, rocky, white head and great lacing with excellent retention. aroma is great, on the sweeter side, with big notes of pink grapefruit, tangerine, and apricot with sweet candi sugar, mixed fruit syrup, and cake mix with subtle pine esters and a nice hint of spicy, herbal hops. flavor is excellent as well with a cornucopia of fruity hops up front displaying notes of tangerine, grapefruit juice, and fruit cocktail with hints of dried apricot, white grape, and spritely lime zest with a solid, piney bitterness and touch of toffee malts on the back end. palate is medium bodied with crisp carbonation and a spicy, hop bite on the finish. overall, a damn nice dipa. best iíve had from epic.
