3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Release #33. Pours a medium ambery orange. Quite cloudy. The head is frothy and off-white. Lots of lacing and excellent retention. The aroma is big on tangerine, grapefruit, orange and pine hop notes. Thereís a fairly strong caramel malt character, more sugar than Iíd like but itís not too over the top. A little bubblegum-ish. The taste starts off with sugary malt flavor. Thereís also a good amount of citric hop flavor. Relatively little bitterness, though the finish has a decent bite. Still too much sweetness. Fairly thick feel. Lasting aftertaste. A little more than booze than Iíd like but not too bad. Itís a fairly sweet DIPA with too much of a bubblegum caramel flavor to it, but itís still rather tasty. The hops are nice, if somewhat unexciting. The malt sweetness is good enough in and of itself, at least. Itís just not how I prefer my DIPAs.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft - Big pine and a little sweet malt. Clear gold with a thin white head. Sweet malts, hops and a bit of booze. Strong and not up to par.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber from Woodmans in Waukesha. Pours a hazy pale orange with a white head leaving a lot of sticky strings of lace. Aroma has citrus (oranges, pineapple, lemons) and pine. Further down in the glass, some of the caramel aroma shows through. Taste is of sweet caramel, very spicy pine and a grapefruity/lemony mix. Some peppery tang kicks in through the glass. Strong components all. Medium bodied and sticky. Finishes with a lot of depth, and quite a bit of bitterness. Yet - again - some solid sweet caramel and some strong piney/peppery presence is there. Initially thought this was thin and did not have enough character to stay with the aroma, but the body really developed through the glass with a lot of nice pieces that took turns showing up strongly.

1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bottle at Papago Brewing in AZ. I think the label looks cheap. Color of the beer looks great. The hop is way to astringent on my tongue. The bitterness is not balanced right. I had high hopes for this beer.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a murky amber, with a fluffy white head that leaves thick lacing. The nose is sweet, malty with honey and floral notes. Flavors are of bold sweet malts, caramel, peppering piney bitters, light ABV to finish. The integration is almost perfect, and with a soft palate with light alcohol activity, it goes down the palate very well. Great Impy IPA!!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber. Hazy dark golden orange pour with a sudsy layer of off-white foam. Aroma offers up a healthy serving of grapefruit rind, tropical fruit, pine and caramel. Taste is a blend of resiny hops bitterness, tangerine and orange rind along with some mint, pineapple and caramel malt sweetness in the background. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with significant carbonation and another round of tropical fruit and hops resin in the finish. Good to see they didnít hold back on the hops. Well done overall.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from the brewery. I had high hopes for this one. Pours a bright orange with a tall white head. Aroma is pretty nice. I can tell it will be potently bitter. Notes of pine, garlic and citrus come out aggressively, but donít quite pop. I really need my IIPAs to explode in the nostrils. The palate is heavy and sticky. The malts infringe on the hops. Barleywine-like hints at toffee and brown sugar with alcohol heat deviate from what I consider a perfect example of the style. Still, itís not bad and if I was at a place with no other super hoppy beers Iíd get it again if in the mood.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
This is truly what I look for in a IPA. Huge hops with citrus tones, with the bitterness that lingers. That kick in the end that adds a touch if sweet. Love it!

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Tap at Denver - a pretty abrasive, garlicky, soapy, bitter beer, even for the style - underlying, clean sweetness tries to balance, but itís really the hop flavor, not the bitterness, that makes this hard to enjoy - Epic seems to most often favor hop profiles that impart a lot of sprouted garlic and other off flavors - Some of their hoppy beers I like, but many I do not - this is one of the later.
