3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber to oversized snifter (release #17, shared with the Mrs.; thanks douglas88). Looks good; an opaque amber with off-white lacing. Smells of bitter hops and semi-sweet malt; a little boozy too. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Good beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
This poured a ruby red color with a beige head. Aroma was ofcitrusy and piney hops, roasted malt, and toffee. Very in you face. Flavor was much the same, nice bitter citrusy hops with toffee and caramel backbone to make this really well balanced. Nice!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz bomber from Spirits Brick. Poured a good looking deep red/brown body with a full frothy beige head that lasts the entire duration of the beer. Aroma of pineapple, sweet candi sugar, caramel, molasses, slight alcohol. Full mouthfeel with a creamy finish, soft carbonation and a touch of alcohol warming. Flavor grains, alcohol, molassess, burnt brown sugar, toffee. The was pretty yummy.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 9/25/11, Release #7
Aroma: The nose is sweet and sugary, with caramel malts, roast, fruity notes, and some hoppy undertones
Appearance: This one pours a murky, almost dirty, amber-brown color with an off-white head and good lacing
Flavor: Tastes more balanced with the mid-plus caramel sweetness, fruit flavors, and low-mid hop bitterness
Palate: It is medium bodied with a mouthfeel that’s sticky sweet (not quite cloying, but it does detract a little)
Overall, I thought this beer was decent, but I just wanted it to be a little bit better. I would have prefered some more presence from the hops and a little less of the (almost) cloying sweetness, as it was a little hard to get past. To me, this one was more like a Barley Wine then an Imperial Red. It is a decent offering, but honestly, I wanted to like this one more then I did.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
22oz bottle. gotta be from my utah connection dougedoug. thanks man.... pours a deeper shade of crimson red, dark but nearly transparent, with a fluffy and withstanding soapy off-white head... pine and citrus rind resin bites first in the aroma followed up with an underlying caramel sweetness that eventually succumbs to the previously mentioned hop profile. i would have thought this would be more than 40ibus but apparently not. after a little bit of breathing, the malt tend to balance and set an equilibrium... flavors lean more towards the sweeter caramel malt side, surprisingly, as i thought the hops would shine more (could be due to it not being at its freshest). hops leave a semi-lingering bitter impression on the finish but without being abrasive in any way. some crystal malt sweetness lends itself to the finish as well. medium to thick bodied with adequate carbonation. not all that bad but not all that great either.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Strongly and distinctly piney hop aroma, rather like being in a Carolina forest. Hazy ochre, medium yellow head, nice lacing. Same piney hop bitterness somewhat offset by sweet malt and cherry fruitness, but the hops are still prominent. Alcohol is not noticeable. Drinks like a hoppier, yet tamer, Arrogant Bastard, without Stone’s "house flavor". This is my first Epic beer and I like it so far.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. Release #3, 7.4 % abv. Opaque brown-amber with a lasting creamy quarter-inch head. Nose is spicy caramel, resin and orange-grapefruit. Flavor is dirty grapefruit, orange and lemon, with some tea leaf, woody hop, toasted nut, cocoa, and citrus/melon. Near-medium body is watery, smoothly carbonated, drinkable, and well-dried by the hops.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Utah Liquor Store. Pours amber with an inch of khaki foam. Leaves a lot of lacing. Fairly hop forward on the nose and tongue. Finish lingers a bit. Feels unbalanced to me. Not my favorite from Epic.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle-pours dark deep red with a soapy eggshell head. nice nose-resinous hops, big dark fruits (figs, plums), earthy notes, slight metallic notes. flavors of earthy hops, lite resin, rasins, grapes, plums, with some earthy alcohol on the finish. not overly the top with aclohol but it is there. long sweet fruity finish after the alcohol fades. this is a pretty decent beer and it has aged well. Im pretty impressed. I need to have this fresh on tap sometime.
