4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pitch black with a dark brown head and carbonation along the glass and no lacing. Nose is mainly chocolate, cocoa, vanilla, licorice, roasted barley and malts. Flavor is likewise the same with a slight boozy flavor. Body is fairly light and the carbonation starts out strong but tapers off after a few minutes. Good tasting Imperial Stout overall.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
22. Pours jet black with a dense and creamy dark tan head. Sweet and roasty nose; showing anise and a bit of soy sauce along with some milk chocolate. Creamy thickish body with soft carb. Roasty dark chocolate mid palate with a bit of good coffee. Salty and anise notes fade a bit compared to the nose. Long coffee finish. Nice impy.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and light vanilla. It pours a dark brown with faint orange highlights and a small beige head that quickly fades to a thin ring. The flavor starts with moderate dark chocolate and a touch of black licorice. It finishes with moderate roasted coffee, light burnt notes, and a hint of vanilla. It’s medium-full bodied with mild carbonation and a somewhat oily mouthfeel.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle from Root Cellar. Release #3. Pours a deep brown, not quite opaque, with a tiny beige head that dissipates immediately and amber highlights around the sides. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, caramel, earthy roast, and faint char. The flavor hits the same slate of notes; rich, roasty flavor. Light-medium bodied, probably thinned over the past couple years, with a smooth, roasty mouthfeel. Good imperial stout.

Batch#10. Very dark pour. Fantastic flavor. Smooth, nutty imperial flavor with a balanced bite. Doesn't taste like a beer with 10+% alcohol.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
It’s somewhat bland. There is a lack of flavor in terms of boldness in any characteristic. The matliness gives a slight cereal tast. It has somewhat of a doughy aspect to it. Definite hints of banana and woodsy describe the beer well.
