4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from Woodmans in Waukesha. Batch #14, whatever that means. Cellar aged about 2 months. Pours an oily black with a brown head leaving spots and streaks of lace. Always love that! Aroma has chocolate and espresso and molasses, with some hints of fruit and caramel showing up further down the glass. Taste is of dark chocolate, sweet caramel, rich heavy roast and some grapes. Fairly bitter with a lot of richness in the body. Full bodied and a bit sticky. Finishes somewhat lingering, and to the bitter side of bittersweet. The chocolate/espresso bitter side is stronger/richer than the caramel maltiness can combat. A nice offering. Interested to try the Baptist that has been aging in the cellar for 3 months; assuming similar base, just barrel aged.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big black pour with a tall fluffy brown oatmeal looking head with some thick lacing. Aroma is heavily of dry cocoa powder over a tiny bit of lactose some very heavily roasted dark malt and a hint of hops in the finish. Reminds me a bit of the hoppy hit that Imperial Gonzo has. Full well coated palate, lightly creamy on the tongue. Big roasty malt flavor some bitter cocoa powder some dark chocolates and a good amount of dry hops in the finish that really change the feel and the swallow, but don’t stand out as a specific flavor that I can pick up. As it warms a little hint of vanilla came in as well. Again reminds me of Imp Gonzo in a good way. Enjoyable beer.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pour from bottle - black with a small amount of tan headAroma - chocolate, coffee, roasted dark malt, hints of toffee. Taste - burnt malt, smoke, licorice, chocolate, sour fruits, caramel Palate - full bodied, medium carbonation, cake like mouthfeel, long bitter, roasted finish. Tasting a lot of similarities with Founder?s imperial stout, and that?s not a bad thing. It is a bit sweeter to me which balances the bitterness a little better than the Founder?s version.

Big creamy to do impy - just missing the complexities and more ish qualities of the classics. Having said that this is an excellent second tier beer, well weighted between the roast and sweeter aspects.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black body, faint tan head. Malty aroma, caramel and brown sugar. Slick, oily mouthfeel with a little bit of co2 tingyness. Taste is not very strong for an imperial stout. Fairly well balanced with a hint of bitterness. Roasted malts and some coffee flavours are there. It’s a very nice imperial stout, probably a good start for someone who wants to try out the style.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz for $8.67. Pours jet black with a nice brown head. Looks great. Aroma is huge coffee, roasted malt and chocolate. Taste is similar with the coffee and chocolate flavors up front leading to a smokey flavor and smooth bitterness on the back end. Body is medium, texture slightly thinner than I like in an Imperial Stout. Overall this is quite good. Easy to drink and has great flavors. Recommended.

Taste is very espresso and bitter wheat grass but smell is relatively mellow. Pours dark brown with a little red in the light.
