4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smoky, oily aroma has notes of roast malt, semi-sweet chocolate and good coffee. It pours a deep, warm sable with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled tan head that leaves some generous lacing. Rich flavor has roast malt, chocolate, coffee and subtle hoppy notes. Firm, smooth texture is fairly fizzy, leaving a persistent smoky, slightly sweet and fairly tingly finish. Epic indeed!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, release #4, 2011. Pours a near pitch black color with a small head that lingers a bit. Aromas are caramel, coffee, chocolate, and light roast. Taste has a moderate sweetness and is not balanced well enough with the very minor roastiness and bitterness. Mostly caramel, chocolate, and coffee come through in the flavor. Finish is very smooth with a lingering caramel taste. Full body, smooth mouthfeel. Overall I like this Imp Stout but it has some flaws. Would love some more roast or bitterness to balance the sweetness.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aromas of coffee, charcoal and molasses. Jet black in color with no foam. Strong coffee, chocolate, oats and resin. Very smokey in texture with a thick texture on the palate. Overall, this is a very drinkable and smooth stout with a lot of alcohol on the finish. Very well done. Iíd give this an A rating.

Aroma of coffee and chocolate, vanilla and prunes. Very strong sipping beer. Bitter taste follows the sweetness. Very nice imperial stout.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nice, though not crazy strong, aroma of coffee, bread, dark chocolate. Dark, kind of thin body with creamy brown head. Taste is nicely bitter dark chocolate, fruity malts, coffee, bitter aftertaste. A solid imperial stout.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Release #9. Pours, as expected, opaque black with no highlights. The head is fairly substantial and dark brown. The aroma is dominated by roasty malts with a modest sweetness, but few other distinctive notes. On the palate, dark chocolate and espresso grinds come through with a touch of white sugar. Not much more... just okay.

Pleasantly surprised by this one. Pours black with nice soft mocha head. Big vanilla aromas. Chocolate, bourbon, and anise as well. Soft and full bodied palate. Chocolate, anise, and bourbon flavours. Well rounded stout. Very good.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle, release #6- Pours opaque black with a one finger chocolate tan head that looks like itís gonna stick around for most of the beer anyways. The aroma is chocolate malt, leather, licorice, classic imperial stout aroma. The taste is the same, strong dark roasted malt, chocolatey, molasses, bold and in your face. Body is huge as expected, coating the mouth with chocolate milk flavor long after the swallow. Overall I really like a good Impy stout, and this is a good one.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: Beautiful pitch black body with a thick creamy brown head, itís a shame the head has poor retention because itís beautiful with it on top. Still this is excellent looking.
Aroma: The aroma is excellent here, milk chocolate is the primary aroma here with some dark fruits in the back. The milk chocolate is more pronounced on the pour, the dark fruits come out more as it warms up.
Taste: Lots of dark chocolate throughout, maybe a hint of licorice, and a very light smoke presence, the licorice becomes more apparent as I sip, Iím not a huge fan of licorice but itís okay here.
Palate: Thick beer with a light fizz, creamy body.
Overall: I really wish this beer didnít have the licorice flavor in it, it would be excellent if not. I know some people will love that though. I think this is a solid imperial stout either way, worth trying.
