3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ash roasted malts, a little chocolate, perhaps a little smoke, earth, some residual sugar. Pours black, tan head, nice lace. Flavors of dark roasted malts, a little char and smoke. Some residual sweetness perhaps caramel underneath. Smooth, but with a decently dry finish. Nice body, alcohol shows up a bit in the finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
poured from 22oz into a glass and then into my dumb mouth. Epic has some good stuff, but this is just an average imperial stout. It includes some ash, tobacco, chocolate, alcohol, and even some light toffee. Little sweet too.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours a beautiful extremely dark brown with a smallish head. Great notes of smokiness and roasting to the nose, with good maltiness to the taste. But with this, itís easy on the palate. This is one of the examples of why I love Imperial Stouts.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20

T - Starts off with some roasted dark chocolate malts with some raisin and other dark fruits and some black licorice. Through the middle, some molasses and a bit of vanilla comes through with some coffee. The finish is a mix of roasted dark chocolate, coffee, black licorice, molasses, and a bit of booze.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth and a bit thick with a warming and sweet finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nicely balanced with a good balance of manliness other flavors and body.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 ounce bottle into snifter, batch 3 bottled 2/14/2011. Pours pitch black color with a nice 1-2 finger dense mocha colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some good soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, apple, raisin, char, biscuit, earth, and light herbal spiciness. Pretty nice aromas with good balance and complexity; a bit too fruity from the yeast. Taste of big dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, caramel, toffee, biscuit, toast, earth, charred malt, nuttiness, and herbal spiciness. Good amount of spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, coffee, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice flavor balance and complexity; with a good balance of bitterness and malt flavors. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a fairly creamy and slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice imperial stout. Nice roasted malt and hop flavor complexity with good balance. Very enjoyable offering.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Release #5, 8.9%. Dark khaki head on a dense black body. Cocoa, dark chocolate, slight sweetness and booze in the aroma. Touch roasty in addition to the sweeter chocolate notes and cocoa powder, with a touch of a savory ending. Medium body with softer carbonation. Not bad but pretty straightforward and not all that interesting.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black pour with a creamy, tan, persistent head. I think I see some floaties at the bottom of the glass (yeast? looks like it but itís hard to tell). Aroma is cola, dark fruit, hint of coffee, hint of bakers chocolate. Sweet on the front and mid palate and finishes bittersweet. Low carbonation, full body, moderately low alcohol warmth. I expected a little bit more from this one in terms of complexity. Also not too sure whatís up with the floaties in the appearance - Iíve never seen something like that in an imperial stout.
