4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 oz. bottle, release #6- Pours opaque black with a one finger chocolate tan head that looks like itís gonna stick around for most of the beer anyways. The aroma is chocolate malt, leather, licorice, classic imperial stout aroma. The taste is the same, strong dark roasted malt, chocolatey, molasses, bold and in your face. Body is huge as expected, coating the mouth with chocolate milk flavor long after the swallow. Overall I really like a good Impy stout, and this is a good one.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: Beautiful pitch black body with a thick creamy brown head, itís a shame the head has poor retention because itís beautiful with it on top. Still this is excellent looking.
Aroma: The aroma is excellent here, milk chocolate is the primary aroma here with some dark fruits in the back. The milk chocolate is more pronounced on the pour, the dark fruits come out more as it warms up.
Taste: Lots of dark chocolate throughout, maybe a hint of licorice, and a very light smoke presence, the licorice becomes more apparent as I sip, Iím not a huge fan of licorice but itís okay here.
Palate: Thick beer with a light fizz, creamy body.
Overall: I really wish this beer didnít have the licorice flavor in it, it would be excellent if not. I know some people will love that though. I think this is a solid imperial stout either way, worth trying.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Release #7. Bottle. Pours with a black hued body with a massive deep brown head that lasts. The body coats the glass and there is great lace. Unreal retention. Aromas are nutty, bready, roasty, cocoa, coffee, vanilla, toasty, molasses, iodine, bakery fresh bread. Malt forward, but not too sweet. Balanced herbal hop component. Flavors are thick and big. Medium to medium strong bitterness. Herbal hop, toasty, dry, rich cocoa, spicy, molasses, nutty, tobacco, leather and light ash. Roasty, velvety, coffee, iodine. Somewhat clean ester wise. Complex malt impression. Really good. Fuller bodied, medium dry, warming, bitter and slightly roasty throughout the duration. Viscous. Medium so slightly high carbonation for the style. Another solid beer from Epic!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber, release #4. Poured deeper brown with a dense yellowy-beige head. The aroma picked up sweeter, roasty vanilla bean and chocolate notes, with touches of earthy spice and smoked dark malt around.. a little on the sweet side, but solid. The flavor found lightly-smoked, roasty black malts and darker chocolate at the core.. more sweet malts topped by bright, earthy bitterness around.. finished a touch grainy with a blend of black malts amplified by alcohol warmth. Heavier-bodied with low-moderate carbonation on the palate.. grainy as mentioned, but not necessarily in a bad way.. good stuff.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ash roasted malts, a little chocolate, perhaps a little smoke, earth, some residual sugar. Pours black, tan head, nice lace. Flavors of dark roasted malts, a little char and smoke. Some residual sweetness perhaps caramel underneath. Smooth, but with a decently dry finish. Nice body, alcohol shows up a bit in the finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
poured from 22oz into a glass and then into my dumb mouth. Epic has some good stuff, but this is just an average imperial stout. It includes some ash, tobacco, chocolate, alcohol, and even some light toffee. Little sweet too.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Pours a beautiful extremely dark brown with a smallish head. Great notes of smokiness and roasting to the nose, with good maltiness to the taste. But with this, itís easy on the palate. This is one of the examples of why I love Imperial Stouts.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 ounce bottle into snifter, batch 3 bottled 2/14/2011. Pours pitch black color with a nice 1-2 finger dense mocha colored head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some good soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of dark chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, apple, raisin, char, biscuit, earth, and light herbal spiciness. Pretty nice aromas with good balance and complexity; a bit too fruity from the yeast. Taste of big dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, caramel, toffee, biscuit, toast, earth, charred malt, nuttiness, and herbal spiciness. Good amount of spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, toffee, toast, biscuit, coffee, and herbal spiciness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice flavor balance and complexity; with a good balance of bitterness and malt flavors. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a fairly creamy and slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice imperial stout. Nice roasted malt and hop flavor complexity with good balance. Very enjoyable offering.
