3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 floydian1 (718) - FNQ Australia, AUSTRALIA - MAY 21, 2013
500ml bottle at home. Appearance of a bright golden body with loose average-sized white head. Honey malts on the nose with herbal and grassy notes and a hint of alcohol. Some tropical fruity elements in there as well (eg. pineapple, rambutan). The smooth malt bill reminded me of a Duvel golden ale but this one has less complex hopping. Finishes with a moderate dry bitterness that lingers. Remarkably light bodied for the ABV. It is a good brew but pricy in Australia at almost $18 a bottle.
3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 tejonno (10) - NEW ZEALAND - MAY 21, 2013
Very pale straw, clear in the glass. Tastes quite ’light’ was my initial impression, you sure dont notice the 8.5% part! balanced, not overly hoppy I thought - was expecting more from you, Epic - but then this is the first imp pils I’ve ever had, maybe this is the style. I like the hop-malt balance, although the fruity hops get through in the end to round it out quite nicely
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 lliams (86) - Hawthorn, AUSTRALIA - FEB 28, 2013
Crystal clear pour of light straw. Aromatics leap out of the glass- fruits and grass. Tastes much like an Epic beer! Upfront hops with that classic Epic flavour... slightly oily and long on the finish with some heat hanging around, which is a bummer. I like it though wish it was cheaper!
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Gerbeer (857) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 14, 2013

Draft. A golden yellow beer with a white head. The aroma has notes malt and spicy hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and spicy hops, leading to a bitter finish.

Bright orange colour with big white head. Mild hop aroma. Hop resin mouthfeel with mild hop flavour, I say mild as Luke normally loves hops, so this is very tame for him.
2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20 ALLOVATE (2098) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - OCT 27, 2012
Bottle; into a snifter. Fleeting white cap atop an effervescent, sparkling medium gold body. First whiff is clean cut, resinous, tropical fruit punch hops with an edge of cotton candy and pear drops. Second whiff and there on in it offers up a medicinal, plastic and rubbery phenolic note that is tarnishing. Doughy in the mouth with a lot of ripe tropical adding a debting sweetness to it. Light bodied but oddly filling in the stomach. The alcohol is ’hot’, chemical and there is a rubbery phenolic linger. Dominant honeydew, pineapple and passionfruit notes just continue to sweeten as it warms. Awkward lasting bitterness adds to the furore; just too rough for enjoyment. Had high hopes but they were quashed quickly. Too many jagged edges to this one! (50cL, BB 05/12/12, Freo Doctor, Fremantle)
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 marcus (5004) - Sacramento, California, USA - SEP 9, 2012
Bottle from Corti Brothers, Sacramento. Pours yellow with a fluffy off-white head and a banana and toffee aroma. There is a hearty, slightly harsh pale malt flavor with a dry bitter finish.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ngeunit1 (1544) - San Francisco, California, USA - SEP 2, 2012
A - Pours a clear golden-yellow color with a finger of frothy white head. The head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of lemon and citrus hops, sweet grainy and cracker malts, and some floral hops.
T - Starts off with grainy and cracker malts with some lemon and citrus hops and a bit of bitterness. Through the middle, some pine and floral come through with some more bitterness. The finish is a mix of bready and grainy malts with some lemon, citrus, and piney hops and some bitterness and lager esters.
M - Medium-plus bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a grainy and lightly bitter finish.
D - Very drinkable. Nice imperial pilsner with good overall malt and hop balance.
2.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 ciaranc (365) - Dublin, IRELAND - AUG 28, 2012
A strange beer this, promise of a big hoppy pils descends into burning alcohol, phenolic, band aids with an unpleasant bitter after taste. Not sure if my 500ml bottle is off or what
