3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jonnyguns (384) - - FEB 9, 2013Bottle from slow beer. Pours a golden with a disappearing white head. Lots of floral hops in the nose. Some apricot and grapefruit in there too along with Biscuit malt. Taste is quite malty with an apricot sweetness. Low carbonation. Easy drinking stuff. More of an ipa than a strong ale.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 beer-yum (61) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 20, 2013
Another excellent hoppy ale from the good folks at Epic. The only problem is the internal competition - it is intense - and there are a couple of their other brews I rank higher. Not something I’d ever turn down though.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Kosmokrator (291) - ITALY - MAY 19, 2013
Color ambrato carico con un velo di schiuma biancastra poco persistente. Sentori di caramello, albicocca, biscotto e malto dominano aroma e sapore iniziale, al quale fa seguito un retrogusto fortemente luppolato ed erbaceo con un finale amarognolo persistente. Corpo medio, effervescenza debole, struttura parzialmente oleosa. Buona, ma molto "standard" e non eccessivamente complessa.

Bottle (500ml) with expiry of 14/11/13. Appears copper-amber with a fluffy cream-white head that shows good retention and lacing. Strong fruity aromas of pineapple, apricot, orange, cherry plus hints of vanilla. Substantially fruity palate with a big resinous dry hop finish that lingers. Lots going on here but still very smooth and drinkable. A lovely APA well worth seeking out.

UPDATED: APR 18, 2013 There is a note in the aroma and taste amongst all the peach and citrus that, to this noob, instantly makes me think of East Coast. It’s a very dark green note, a young conifer smell or something. I’m not sure whether it’s from a specific hop or just from having a shitload of hops in general. The top-end sparkles nicely and has a good amount of air in the cymbals, but the bass and mids are slightly malnourished.Throw a bass and a low-register woodwind like a basoon into the mix to get a bit of warm wind among the pines and this beer will be closer to a 5.
3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Brenhophead (382) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAR 3, 2013
500mL bottle. Pours deep blood orange with a small offwhite head and an amazing stone fruit (cherries/peach) + toffee aroma. This beer has a very complex flavour. Perfume, citrus and herbal notes all mix extremely well with the evident darker malts.

Best to be drunk from a Spiegelau 350ml beer glass(like a big wine tasting glass) to release it’s full potential, one of the worlds truly great APAs. We are so lucky to have such a great selection of robust, flavoursome, interesting boutique beer like this in New Zealand.
Not a beer for lionredcoronadbheinekenbecksgrolshspeightsmacs lovers - just too much flavour for those poor souls.

Solid beer. Good hop presence and a lovely rolling bitterness. This is not bad.

Ruby brown with an aroma of hops! hops! hops! and some malt. Taste is bitter bite like a hoppy ipa. Some malt character in the midst of the big hops. Lingering bitterness. Feels like a less quality arrogant bastard.
