4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 kempicus (355) - Bakewell, Derbyshire, ENGLAND - APR 16, 2009
Tried at the Hamilton Hall. Not as much aroma as the ’usual’ epic....i wonder if a sparkler would be a good idea....looks slightly darker although i could be wrong. Fantastic body to this, it really is made by the great palate! Although there is probably less hop flavour and bitterness the hops seem more apparent like it’s had a hop bag dunked into the glass, not over the top but nicely there, it made the sides of my tongue prickle. Loved it, better oh so much better than the original!
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 DonMagi (5599) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 26, 2009
Cask in the new crown and in the alfread herring. Alround rating: I got 3 bottles off luke while he was over and got to try them all v cask, they are both great and vwery similar. Citrusy pine, grapefruity aroma, caramalt sweetness is really appealing but the bitter citrusy fruity and leafy dryness is excellent.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 5, 2009
A Mes rate. Cask handpull at the New Crown. Awesome golden brown and clean. No head but it’s fresh as hell so it will come. Big big hops. Glorious fruit and grass. Citric as hell. Fantastic bitter finish carried really well by some lightly sweet malt. Excellent beer.

Cask at Standing Order Edinburgh (JDW) in ’Spoons Real Ale Festival, April ’09 ...amber ... thin off white head ...little grapefruit hop nose ..bright sharp hop little creamy juicy grapefruit .. not as hoppy as expected but nice balance.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bobinlondon (1179) - Harrow, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 22, 2009
Handpulled and gravity cask at several JDW houses during spring fest. Light copper with an off white head. Noticably darker than the bottled version. Less assertive than I expected but I grew to appreciate this beer after a few pints. The cascade hops were at their most noticable when I sampled it on gravity at JDW Hatch End. Maybe the higher temperature or lack of sparkler but my rating is based on this sample.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 DruncanVeasey (5150) - NUNEATON, Blue Square Prem, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - APR 29, 2009
Cask handpull pre-work cheeky, live from Hinckley Spoons. 31st of the 50 festival beers for me, and the only tick in the house. Dusty honey amber with a dense white collar once it’s settled down. Muted resiny citrus aroma at first with faint greenhouse notes breaking out; good squeeze of grapefruit and lemon jelly once it’s warmed up. Silky mandarin tang on the palate, conditioning very still and Burtonesque; not at all aggressive, but plenty of lemon and lime jelly and tinned mandarin hop; pale woodsy malt and a hint of oak to balance it. Chlorophyll dabs on the burp. The hops fade a bit over the course of a pint and vanilla sweetness takes over. Not the hop beast you might expect with 25 wrung into each pint, but something altogether more soft, grassy, gelatinous and nuanced, and no lesser a beer because of it.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 berkshirejohn (3020) - Bracknell, Berkshire, ENGLAND - APR 17, 2009
Cask at the Samuel Peto (JDW), Folkestone. Bright gold with a thin white head; grapefruit aroma; rather thin and woody to start then developing fruity grapefruit flavours followed by a long lingering bitterness as promised.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Svesse (4397) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - APR 23, 2009
(Cask at Penderel’s Oak JDW, Holborn, London, 15 Apr 2009) Copper colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, malty nose with citrus and grapefruit. Fruity taste with notes of citrus, grapefruit, biscuity malt and a generous bite of Cascade hops in the finish. Balanced bitterness, fairly dry. Very nice beer with a fresh, hoppy taste.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 harrisoni (10070) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - APR 20, 2009
Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Yes, nice hoppy aroma, but just a bit watery in mouth and the hops are just too cheesy. Its ok but the malt and hops let it down, too watery on malt and too much cheese on hops. Attractive copper colour lasting white head. Grapefruit leafy hop aroma, ok caramel malt in mouth. 3.3 RE rate at Samuel Peto. Better than first time I had it. Less cheesy, but ok. The cascades really came through more.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 leaparsons (6333) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 28, 2009
Cask, Last Plantagenet, Leicester. Golden with white head. Aromas are apricot jam with spicy, fresh hops. Light pine. Flavours are very fruity with a jammy sweetness. Dry and lightly woody with grapefruit bitterness. Decent but not as good as I expected.
