3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Trev (1424) - Lakeville, Minnesota, USA - AUG 7, 2011
Bottle: Pours a copper colour with a thin to medium off white head.
aroma is nice floral/herbal hoppiness. lemony citrus, bready malt under that.
Lemony herbal tones carry over into the flavour with a nice bready malt backbone that isn’t too sweet.

Small diminishing head. Clear light amber. Good malt for the style, cookie and toffee. Hop perfume and grapefruit. Oily texture, good soft carbonation, mineral acidic bitter finish. Enjoyed the malt characters. A great beer. Kiwi classic already.

Bottle drank at Bluebird, no freshness date that I can recall... A good looking beer with a dark peach pour, a little copper accent. The head is nice, a bright white cap of about a finger forms and stays awhile, good lacing. Looks good... The aroma is great, nice and restrained for a pale but flavorful, grapefruit on the nose, other citrus notes, caramel, a hint of pine on the finish.... The taste is just as nice as the nose, grapefruit, caramel, but the pine is now mostly grassy hops. It starts off nice but the finish is harsh and flat, really a disappointing finish after a decent start. This should be more drinkable, but it isn’t.

I’m in love with this beer. This is one of the best pale’s I’ve ever had. Amazing nose. Hops are big in the aroma but they are followed by flowing aromas of pear, honey and caramel. Has a fantastic sweet malt backing to this beer which balance out the cascade hops perfectly. Great balance between sweet and sour fruits. Grapefruit, passionfruit, lemon. Everyone needs to try this
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 Vas (64) - NEW ZEALAND - FEB 27, 2011
Bottle. Epic Pale Ale is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. How can they get such a complex aroma and fantastic hop flavour using nothing but US Cascade. But don’t think this is just a hop fest, oh no, fermented to perfection with just the enough caramel flavour and malty goodness to perfectly balance the bitterness and compliment the gorgeous citrusy hop flavour.
