Alasdair (76), New Zealand Sep 30, 2008 grapefruit and orange aroma. Clear dark golden; disappearing white head. Citrus and rose-water flavours, with a hint of caramel. Crisp finish, with a firm bitterness, but also a lingering marmalade-esque sweetness. kiwibt (51), , New Zealand Sep 27, 2008 On tap at the Malthouse.
Pours clear orange/brown with meduim head.
Aroma is stronge grapefruit, rose petal with some fruity esters.Classic USA cascade hop qualities. Grapefruit, rose petal hop flavour balanced with a clean crystal/caramalt background finishing with a clean bitterness.
Overall a good beer, a slight increase in bitterness would make it very good. Well brewed with no technical faults. yespr (11613), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 11, 2008 33 cL bottle. Pours clear golden orange with a lacing white head. Crisp citrusy and mild peachy hops aroma. Light citrusy initially in the flavour with a light bitterness mixed with a mild sweetness. Light fruity and bitter finish. KimJohansen (6645), Copenhagen V, Denmark Sep 11, 2008 Clear golden with medium white head. Sweet and hoppy aroma with caramel and piney notes. Sweet flavour with hoppy, piney and caramel notes. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Sep 10, 2008 Bottle, 5.4%. Good caramelly and elderflowery hop aroma. Clear golden colour, very small white head. Good teaish hop flavour, some sweet caramel flavour. Nice, clean and refreshing. donfardz64 (406), Wellington, New Zealand Aug 20, 2008 Rigger from regional. My favourite of the regular brewed Epic beers. Pours a red/amber with a white head. Strong hoppy aromas dominate. Main flavour is hops, bringing a nice bitterness but not making it too much. The lovely flavours linger after every sip making you want more and more. KiwiJonno (70), Christchurch, New Zealand Aug 20, 2008 Updated: Dec 9, 2008330mL Bottle. Amber/Golden beer, with small white head. Aroma leads you to what is to follow - a hoppy bitter beer. Sweetish caramel malt tastes, followed by a strong bitter hop finish. Complex hops and good length on the finish. Great APA! highlandlad (1258), Sydney, Australia Mar 4, 2008 Terrific Kiwi pale ale. Deep gold with shallow suds. Fruity but slightly muddled aroma - too many hop varietals? Passionfruit, blackcurrant and boiled lollies. Medium bodied and quite oily in feel. Good malt base and bitterness. Spangles lollies. Very sessionable. (330ml bottle at Sully’s Sydney RB Xmas 07 gathering)
