3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a 500ml bottle on 13/12/2010. Has a nice lively floral, citrus fruit and banana aroma. Subdued caramel malt, zesty fruit (especially orange and grapefruit), and some spiciness present when it hits the mouth. Nice and hoppy, without being over the top. A very good and eminently quaffable APA.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
500mL. Pours a clear light orange/amber with a large, healthy, rocky, yellow head with meringue texture and sheen. Giant, poofy, 360 lace. Aroma is powerful chewy, tropical hops: mango, jackfruit, papaya. Taste is slight metallic, nutty bitter, hop forward, black pepper. Something else is in there akin to puppy’s breath. Dry palate.

Pours a clear golden yellow with white head. Citrus fruits and pine needles dominate the nose. Farily light bodied with a clean, dry finish. Very easy to drink. A good, solid pale ale.

Wow, I’ve heard a lot about this beer and I found it to be very impressive. Nice big hop aroma with good clarity of colour. A very clean, refreshing pale ale, would love to try some of their other beers.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 ml bottle from Holiday Wine Cellar ($8.29). Pours a murky honey amber with a finger and a half of off-white foam. Aroma is grainy-malty with significant hop notes (soap, floral, sweet citrus). Flavor is some surprisingly sharp and bitter hops for an APA with citrus and pine notes along with a smooth grainy-malt balance. Some lingering bitterness in the finish. A great APA from the Kiwis!
