3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Copper with overcarbonated bubbles rising in a constant stream. Really nice nose, assertively hopped ,but the flavor canít match up. Oxidized, more of a eurostyle hop bitterness that doesnít work as well at this intensity than do some of the more familiar US west coast hop varieties. Malts arenít doing much here, just along for the ride.

Bottle. Clear amber pour, small white head. Citrusy hops, some caramel sweetness, and grassy somewhat like tea. Itís alright, pretty refreshing.

a nice hoppy pale ale, although not quite as hoppy as the mayhem or the armageddon. much nicer than the lager.

I was actually a little disappointed with this beer the last time I tasted it. The punched had seemed to gone out it. It is still a nice beer though, and certainly one of the best commercial pale ales in New Zealand. The limited release beers from Epic are a much better bet.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Clear bright amber. Nicely hopped aroma is balanced by big sugars from the malts. Smells much like an old school American IPA. Has a slight booziness that seems out of place too. Smooth palate makes it go down well, with light carbonation. Thin, light body. The hops are green and leafy, but the body is too light to carry such promising flavors. Is refreshing though!

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Light bronze. The aroma is green and woody with cascades and a little bit of caramel. Soft body. Moderate bitterness. A little bit woody. Ok, but neither the bitterness nor the brightness is enough to truly compete.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle courtesy of Kristina from Wlv... Pours ruddy medium caramel brown with a medium soapy white head... Aroma of catty, citrus and fruity new Zealand hops coinciding with some papery caramel malt. Maybe somewhat medicinal in nature... Flavors improve a bit with some robust fruity hop flavors with less of a malt profile. Hints of tangerine and other citrus notes and finishes on the earthy side with very little bitterness. Pretty quaffable overall.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500mL bottle. Pours hazy gold with a small head that settles to a ring. Aroma of pine, some citrus and honey. Low sweetness, medium bitterness, lots of hops and a little bit of toast. Light-medium bodied, average carbonation, bit of an astringent bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle, tulip glass. More of those fantastic Epic aromas just a bit dialed down compared to the Armageddon. Wonderful moderate to heavy citrus, peaches, tropical fruit, pine, hop resin aromas, light caramel and roasted malt. Light amber/deep golden hue, medium off white fine bubbly lasting head, very good lacing. Bitter taste mostly with some sweetness and a hint of sourness. Palate is a bit average - slightly lacking in body - a bit thin, very notable dry finish, nicely carbonated. Epic say "You can only drink so many beers in a lifetime, so you better make each one count" and with that in mind although this was a good one I would go for the Armageddon if you want each one to count.
