3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 robertjm (682) - El Cerrito, USA - AUG 17, 2011
500ml bottle - Big tan head with large bubbles. Dark blood red body when held up to light. Aroma a cross between wet newspaper and dried grains. Nice light smokeyness coupled with darker malts in flavor. Body reminds me more of a rauch beer than a porter. I have never had a Tamarillo so have no idea if I taste it. Over all, it’s a nice beer.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 julian (8) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 25, 2012 does not count
Dark brown with slight amber highlights. Very clear with a nice foamy layer of almond colored head. Little to no lacing.
Dark fruits, raisins (special b), smokey, caramel malt, some dark roasted malt bitterness and a hint of alcohol
Pretty much follows the nose though with the smoked Tamarillos taking more of a front seat. Some roasted malt flavors come through in the mid palate which lead way to a nice smooth caramel malt biscuity flavor in the finish.
Well carbonated, smooth, some alcohol warmth on the finish.
Not bad. Smokiness isn’t overwhelming, general porter flavor comes through nicely. If you like a little (or a lot of smoke) then this is a nice deviation from your standard porter.

Glad I got to try this beer. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate, touch of smoke. Good flavor, I was expected a little more from the tomatoes. Solid Porter.
