Epic is proud to announce that our 2012 Pro-Am beer will be available on Friday, September 7. This year’s Epic Brewing Pro-Am brewer is Salt Lake City native, Scott Hunt. Hunt brewed his award winning IPA 74 with Epic in August. The homebrew won Silver in Utah’s 3rd Annual Beehive Brew-Off, 2011, in the American IPA category. The Pro-Am version of Hunt’s beer will be released under Epic’s Hopulent IPA brand label, will carry a unique stamp, Pro-Am ’12, in the “release information area” familiar to dedicated Epic imbibers.

Bomber from Douglas and the SLC crew when I met them at Squatters. The nose of deliciously fruity hops burst out at me as I opened the cap, producing mangos, vanilla wafers, with hints of pineapple and grapefruit. Orange with lots of small stringy floaties and a large cream head. Flavor is lightly bitter with lots of fruity notes. AFAIC absolutely fantastic.

clear caramel with a small white head. White onion, caramel, citrus zest, and a bit of floral hops on this one. finishes with great carbonation, plenty going on here. Very nice.

Poured from a 22 ounce bomber. There is bready malts with a hint of caramel. The hops are pine, spicy, citrus, resin. The resin and bitterness from the hops hinders the drinkability of the beer. Very well made, well done Scott.

Bottle from the Brewery. Same label as Hopulent, but on the side it clearly says Pro-Am, 6%. Pours a clear copper color with a large white head. A nice nose of fruity hops and some earthy malt. A big flavor of pine, lemon, quite raw and bitter hops in the finish akin to lemon or grapefruit juice, some light caramel. Somewhat green. Very tasty though.

A nice clean IPA. Great job!
