Bottle; dark amber color with a good sized frothy head. Aroma of rye and spices, with a dash of sweet fruit. A good dose of spice meets you on the palate with some nice tasting toffee notes. Rye influence clear throughout. Enjoyable enough

Tap at Congregation Azusa. Thanks to ChinoSkillzian! Pours a clear amber, really nice lacing. Nose is nutty, sweet tea, old toffee, fermenting banana/compost. Taste is thin, watery, harsh newspaper again, lemon, lime peel. Heavy newspaper, oxidized keg or something went wrong.

Poured a dark amber color with an off white head. Aroma was of rye, lemon and toast. Flavor similar, one of the more noticeable rye beers I’ve had.

Brown coloured and hazy. Has a white head, lasting. Some lightly plastic notes in the aroma, Grains too, citrus. FLavor is heavy bitter. Some acid too. Creamy texture, soft carbonation.

Bottle from Utah Liquor Store. Pouts brown with a thin khaki head. Leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. A little bit of spiciness of the nose. I definitely get rye on the tongue but its faint. Finishes clean. Solid but I wish it was bigger.

Bottle:   Darker caramel, muddy, moderate to large frothy sandy head, nice lacing.   Dirty rye nose, slight citrus peel and pith.   Strong hay and rye on the tongue, semi-sweet, pith and peel that is a touch candied.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes with a lemony rye aspect, candyish, with some pith and peel that isn’t terribly strong.   Tiz okay.   Their Hop Rye’it is better.

Release #23. Amber in color, cloudy/hazy pour, head dissipates. Rye not overly prominent, medium bodied, smooth texture, malty, tiny hint of lemon, tad spice.

Cloudy brown beer. Good pale tan head. Smooth palate, creamy. Lots of smooth tangy rye malt, not spicy. Malt cream. A little orange hops. Light soft finish. Okay but I really thought there would be more going on here. Disappointing.
