Bottle from Utah Liquor Store. Pouts brown with a thin khaki head. Leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. A little bit of spiciness of the nose. I definitely get rye on the tongue but its faint. Finishes clean. Solid but I wish it was bigger.

Bottle:   Darker caramel, muddy, moderate to large frothy sandy head, nice lacing.   Dirty rye nose, slight citrus peel and pith.   Strong hay and rye on the tongue, semi-sweet, pith and peel that is a touch candied.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Finishes with a lemony rye aspect, candyish, with some pith and peel that isn’t terribly strong.   Tiz okay.   Their Hop Rye’it is better.

Release #23. Amber in color, cloudy/hazy pour, head dissipates. Rye not overly prominent, medium bodied, smooth texture, malty, tiny hint of lemon, tad spice.

Cloudy brown beer. Good pale tan head. Smooth palate, creamy. Lots of smooth tangy rye malt, not spicy. Malt cream. A little orange hops. Light soft finish. Okay but I really thought there would be more going on here. Disappointing.

Bottle pour. Cloudy dark copper pour with a lasting off white head. Aroma is wet grain, spicy rye malt, some vegetal hops. Taste is a bit better with some more spicy rye, bready and caramel malt backbone, but the overripe vegetables I got a hint of in the aroma are more present here. Lingering finish, light carbonation. The hint of rotting veggies that I get in the aroma really detracts from a grain I absolutely adore

Sampled on 3/20/2013. This rye beer pours a slightly cloudy amber color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium bodied white foamy head with decent retention and nice lacing. The aroma is fruity, bready and sweet with some rye spiciness and some hops. A medium bodied rye beer. The malts are bready, fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal, earthy and spicy. Lively carbonation. Nice balanced between the bread, hops and rye; malt and bready at first then hops and spice. Very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
