(Bottle) Pours hazy dark reddish brown with a sand coloured head. The aroma holds soft fruit candy, canned pears, some spicy rye, flowers, bread, fudge and honey cookie. The flavour is light to medium sweet, light to medium bitter and tiny acidic with notes of candy, fruits, rye and some citrus alongside bready, light caramelly and light cookie-like malt. The mouthfeel is round and tiny tart with a light carbonation. Light malty, fruity and light hop earthy finish. Medium bodied.

Bomber bought @ Bierkompass.de. Pours hazy dark brown with a frothy beige head that leaves some thick lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet and fruity with dark bread, pears in sugar syrup, gummi candy, green apple skin, cinnamon, lemon zest and rye flour. Taste is sweet, fruity and spicy with rye flour, black pepper, canned pears and apples, dark bread, liquorice, spearmint, lemon zest, almonds, dried fruit sponge cake and hints of dried apricots and canned mandarin oranges. Mouthfeel is round, creamy and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and slightly malty with dark rye bread, spearmint, orange and lemon zest, canned pears, lemon grass, black pepper and liquorice root. Weird but decent.

Bomber. Poured deeper orangey-brown with a colossal, gushy off-white head. The aroma picked up earthy and medicinal notes over bready malt.. not much rye evident, and it seemed a bit infected. The flavor found bread and fruity malt at the core, with rye, white pepper, fruit skins, and herbal notes around.. finished a tad sour and a bit funky. Medium-bodied with way too much sharp carbonation on the palate.. I don’t think this was as intended.

Release #18... Spicy, herbal aroma. A little fruity. Spicy and unexpected tart favor. Getting a lot of astringency, which I don’t remember in previous batches. I’ll have to rate this one again...

Bottle. Amber, cloudy, small to average and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, some caramel/light bread with light dark fruits - light tropical fruitiness, some grapefruit - citrus hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and sweetish flavor, some caramel/light bread, light fruitiness, some grapefruit hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, some caramel/bread, light fruitiness, some grapefruit - light citrus hoppyness. Too sweet - bred/rye just do not work for me.

TURDFERGUSON (3954) - Durham, North Carolina, USA - OCT 15, 2012
Bottle. Quite hazy orange with a steady white head. Nose of toasted malts, spent grain, light rye, tart fruits, dirty diaper. A little overly sweet malty flavor, again rye is understated, light floral and fruity character and more on point than the nose. Sweet on the palate, not quite cloying, but it would be much more drinkable with a bit more attentuation.

This one just wasn’t my thing. Chestnut pour with a Rocky Mountain head, eggshell in color. Caramel, brown sugar, unbaked dough, rye bread, yeast, and honey. Everything was subdued and nothing really stood out or came together. Rather boring and uneventful. Meh.

BMan1113VR (7858) - Los Angeles, California, USA - SEP 22, 2012
Bottle from Release # 11. Pours with a hazed, chestnut brown (relatively light hued brown) with a just off-white head with decent retention and good lace. Aromas are malty, bready, a bit spicy, rye bread, nutty, lightly herbal, very low earth, some citrus. Not much yeast character. Flavors are bready, malty, nutty, clean. Slightly oily mouthfeel which is a bit odd. Quite dry, spicy, low carbonic bite. A touch of currant or fruit ester (mild) in the finish. Lively bubbles, pretty dry. Straight forward, good, spicy brown ale like beer.
