22 oz. bottle. Aroma features chocolate chip cookie and Tootsie Roll scents from the malts. Lemon rind. Fresh and yeasty smell. I’m not getting much in the way of spices that I expect from a rye beer. Pours a hazy, effervescent, medium brown with a moderate to large amount of long-lasting beige head. Produces good lacing, and has a good look to it overall. Milk chocolate and cookie flavors. It tastes like a straight-forward, but high quality, brown ale, except with a welcome dry hops – and perhaps rye spice – kick in the finish. Dry aftertaste. Light to medium body. Lively, frothy, and silky in what amounts to a nice, though not special, palate. You know, it’s a pretty enjoyable brew, thought it’s not exactly my kind of beer stylistically, and it clashed with my expectations in appearance, aroma, and flavor. The point is, it wasn’t what I was expecting, but, hey, I liked it.

Bottle release # 4. Pours hazy dark amber with a soapy off white head that fades to a foamy film. Aroma is bready rye and malt with a faint sweetness. Taste is definity rye bread and biscuit with some bitterness and sugar. Palate is creamy medium feel and finishes chaulky and dry. Pretty solid tasting brew!
