651 ml. bottle. Release #8. DEN# 1426. Pours a medium, well retained light beige head, with extensive lacing, over a clear reddish brown (SRM 25) body....nose is cocoa, chocolate, light coffee, light herbal tones, no esters, balance to the roasted malts.....taste is moderate cocoa, chocolate, light coffee, dry throughout, light pine, citrus peel, no esters, finishing with a moderate bitterness, balance to the malts....mouth feel, light of medium body, slightly astringent, no alcohol, carbonation makes slight creaminess. This lacks the mid roasted malt tones often found in Brown Ales. The correction would be to add back more caramel/crystal malts. The hops while obviously present are not quite "American" enough in presentation, so perhaps a bit of rejiggering of the recipe would lead to improvement. This is NOT a bad beer, it just can be made better. BJCP 7/3/14/4/6

Bottle. Pours a deep dark brown with a huge tan head that lingers. Aroma is malty with citrus hops, wood, burnt toast. Taste is a bit weak, of roasted malt, wood, and a hint of citrus hops. Lingering light toast. Not bad.

Wow nice full bodied brown with some big pine resin. A real hybrid beer. Brown ipa? Quality stuff.

Coffee-brown beer with a thin beige head that has little retention--disappears almost as quickly as it forms. Semi-dry nose of roasted nuts, unsweetened cocoa, and a hint of spruce. Flavor is nice and malty with some bitter chocolate, light coffee, and brown sugar which then subsides into a mellow bitterness on the piney/woody side. Nice beer.

Bomber bottle poured a dark brown hue w/ a creamy tan hue. Moderate to bold nutty aromas. Initial flavor is light to moderate sweet w/ a mild bitter finish. Tastes are almond bark, brown sugar, light grass, and walnut. Medium bodied and balanced body.

10 oz at the brewery. Pours a rich brown with a small head. Aroma is pretty hoppy, not crazy enough to raise eyebrows. Probably not enough to consider it another style than brown ale. There is some citrus bite and nuttiness, caramel and earth. The body is pretty solid. Good clean malty flavors of nuts, earth, toffee and a dryish bitterness from the American hops. Balanced and clean.

Bomber - they call this beer a "hybrid," but I call it a beer with an identity crisis - it’s not really hoppy enough to be a black/brown IPA, but at the same time, there is enough woody, citric hop presence to make it hard to enjoy as a brown ale, despite the nutty malt richness, notes of tobacco, and light toffee notes - the hop acids just taste weird on top of these qualities - the finish is really where it gets the most bitter, and once the malt subsides and the hops are all that remain on the palate, the beer is okay - this just doesn’t come together well for me.

Bomber, Release #8. Poured deeper brown with a well-retained, toasted beige head.. looked great! The aroma picked up fresh herbal and spicy citrus hoppage over biscuity malts and a bit of semi-sweet chocolate.. well-balanced and inviting. The flavor found bitter, green citrus notes on the tip of the tongue, with biscuit notes, baker’s chocolate, and burnt roasty malts behind.. bitter and very tasty on the long, spicy finish. Medium-bodied with moderate carbonation.. great balance.. loved it!

Hazy amberish brown with a foamy light tan head, with loads of sticky lace. Nose is very full and large with whole cone semi-bitter leafy hops, lots of lupulin and resin, with a sweet toast malt undertone. Smells a bit caustic. Taste is large and toasty with some light notes of cocoa and dark toast malts, but there is an overriding flavor of resinous leafy hops throughout, and more strongly so on the finish. Not my kinda brown at all.

Poured as a taster at Denver taproom. aroma of choc and caramel, malt, bile maybe, round notes of choc, dark coffee, malt. This is a very nice brown.
