3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Batch #2. Pours with a hazed deeper brown hued body with a large tan head. Aromas are of hops and coffee. Lots of tangerine, pine, grapefruit, citrusy hops and decent fruity esters. Macaroons, roasty, leather, grassy dry hops. Flavors are bitter, surprisingly mild roast yet strong coffee, chocolate, grapefruit, citrus and grassy hops. Pretty much a black IPA with a touch less body and a bit more roast. Bready malt, carbonic bite and a hint of smoke. Very lively bubbles, dry, medium bodied. Very similar in roast to a Black IPA Iíve brewed a few times. Good.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ home. Deep brown/black appearance with a big brown head. Somewhat piney/earthy, lightly bitter hoppy, a touch nutty but mostly a roasty caramel malty aroma. Again, the earthy hoppiness plays a big role in the flavor along with a toasty malty, moderate caramelized taste with some earthiness on the finish. Not bad but Iím not too impressed.
