3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
I’m quite sure that I’m drinking the 6th release. Fuck, now I actually have to get up an check the damn bottle for you dicks. Yes, this is release #6, with 7.8% ABV. Diaphanous golden yellow appearance. Thin and wispy head. This looks decent, for a Saison. The aroma is quite pungent; it carries a tad bit of funk with a subtle apple aroma. Seems like I’m getting hints of ginger in there, too. The cinnamon is extremely subtle, but give it a few sniffs, and you’ll find it. The clove, I can’t speak of that because I’m not prone to smelling clove well. Slightly convoluted for being a sour apple Saison, and I say that because, really, all of the added ingredients detract from the inherent qualities that should be there. Just call this fucker something other than "Sour Apple" and I’d be good with that. Nice sour apple flavor at first, but then the ginger and cinnamon take over, but mainly, the ginger. There is a nice lingering sour flavor. The nuances are great, and this is an enjoyable Saison. This beer doesn’t heavily steer towards being a Tripel, like most of the Saisons that I’ve had, recently. Rolls across the tongue decently enough. Decent stuff.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle... Poured hazy, golden with a thick head. A bit medicinal and clove-like with hints of apples. The yeast was there too especially towards the finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle (Release #6). Pours hazy pale yellow with a white soapy head that dissipates to a foamy collar. Aroma is bitter yeast and ginger, clove and some acidic fruits. Taste starts bitter and tart with more ginger and clove, acidic apples and yeast and I can feel the alcohol. Palate is medium and fizzy with a dry finish. Very interesting, a definite sipper!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bomber - well, this beer looks pretty awesome - lively cloudy gold - huge, frothy, well-retained head - nose of wheat, strong peppery phenols, wildflowers, tropical fruit, earthy wildness, lavender - smells pretty damn nice - flavors medium dry and strongly herbal - mildly peppery phenols - earthy sour apple (core, skin and all) - lavender and sage - finish is tart and dry - this is some good stuff.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Opened with a pretty decent pop and poured into a NB tulip glass. VERY heady, pours a slightly hazed yellow straw color with a white foamy head that is slow to settle. Leaves sticky frothy lace as it settles. Belgian esthers in the nose, some medicinal, pepper. I was hoping for a more fruit forward aroma but not so much. Light mouthfeel. The first thing I notice is the alcohol, slightly boozy. Tart and dry start and finish. Banana, pear, and some apple. Ends with a sour apple on the lips taste. Not bad but not as good as I wanted it to be.

Lightly hazy yellow with extensive carbonation and a mammoth, rocky white head. Yeast, fruits, sour apple, tart, light funk in the aroma. Belgian yeast, apple, sour, light funk, ginger, coriander, and a bit of clove. Very interesting and quite tasty.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22oz bomber. Release #4. 8.2%. Super hazy, practically opaque yellow-tan. Thin, but quite steady, soapy white head. Fresh apple aroma, not unlike cider, some sour green apple tones. Dry and tart upfront, with a sweet, cidery aroma. Effervescent, with some significant spice tones...reminiscent of a pumpkin ale in some respects. Quite unique, with a very enjoyable mouthfeel, really captures a Belgian feel. I would assume this is a love/hate beer, as it is pretty far removed from a typical ale. A little overspiced in my opinion, I would’ve liked the apple to shine a little more, but I suppose the spices add depth and balance. Unique and certainly worth a try for the adventurous connoisseur.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Proof again that I don’t do fruity beers.. Pours cloudy pale yellow. Definitely smell the apples, and some belgian yeast + a light funk. Taste was mostly just tart - plus tart apples, light spice, carbonation and the belgian yeast.
Is this beer??

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A really nice beer. Had this a little late in the season but thinking about fall was pretty suiting for a beer with a strong apple profile. Sweet apple in the aroma which is carried through the flavor. Slightly tart finish. Really good.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 9/5/11, Release #5
Aroma: The aroma is fairly funky, with a lot of yeast, some apple, spice, and lemon
Appearance: The pour is a hazy yellow color with a big, fizzy white head that dissipates quickly
Flavor: A nice balance of sweet and sour that tastes a lot like you would expect from the nose
Palate: The body is light (leaning medium), the feel is tingly on the mouth, and the finish is fairly long
This was a pretty interesting offering. The sourness and sweetness work pretty well together to make for a refreshing brew. I liked the way that this one worked. Maybe a touch too much carbonation, but overall, its rather enjoyable.
