bottle shared at Max and Jessís - some grainy notes. Funky fruits with nice barnyard funk. Yeasty effervescence, peppery spice esp on the back of the throat. Light fruity tartness.

22 ounce bottle, Release #6, 7.9% ABV. Served in a tulip glass, the beer pours a hazy straw gold color with an inch white head that went away quickly. Thereís a decent amount of lacing left on the glass. The brew smells like sour apples, bubblegum, herbs, light peppery spice and bready malt. I think the taste is mostly herbal, but thereís also some sour apples, peppery spice, lemon peel, bready malt and yeast noticable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, itís a bit coating and has good carbonation. Itís also easy to drink. I think itís a good overall brew. I wasnít sure what to think of it at first, but once I got halfway through the bottle I started liking it more and more. At $7.99 a bottle, Iíd buy this again.

Pours a cloudy yellow color with a white head. Sour aroma with apples, yeast, and some bubblegum. Flavor is also slightly sour with some apple, bubblegum, and belgian yeast.

Bottle sample (Thanks Alvey!) Light hazy yellow pour, plenty of carbonation and the faint smell of apple. Flavor was dialed back mixture of a slightly funky saison with a hint of apple. Not too sour or fruit forward. Decent beer, but pretty uneventful and not worth the price tag.

Sample at the Epic tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 8/11/11. Pours a clear yellow color with a thin white head. Very herbal nose with basil, sage and apple notes (yes, Iím aware that thereís no basil or sage in it, but thatís what my nose is interpreting this crazy blend of spices/herbs to be). Herbal flavor with some sour apple and a finish thatís oddly meaty, yet not smoky.

Cloudy light yellow pour with a huge white head. Nose is of barnyard and light fruits. Taste is extremely crisp, and has a nice tart apple quality to it.

Appearance: Pours a clouded, pale yellow body with a moderate-sized, foamy, white head.

Smell: Granny Smith-based apple cider, then, a bit of pils and wheat malt, with hints of ground spices and cobweb-strewn gum as the sour apple scent ramps up.

Taste: Pilsner malts with, perhaps, a trifling bit of wheat. Lightly tangy, lightly sweet upfront. Yes, there are the expected green apples, moderately tart. Also, a myriad of spice hints and a touch of earthy phenolics (bordering on band-aid occasionally) striking the back-of-the-throat. Finishes dry, phenolic, and tart.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-high carbonation.

Overall: Itís interesting and an appealing combination, sure, though Iím not in love with it, and the one visitation is probably enough for me. Still kinda interesting, though!

Bottle from Belmont Party Supply.
I popped this one open after a long run in the summer heat. I really didnít except too much from this beer but was pleasantly surprised. The sour apples add some more tartness to accompany the farmhouse funkiness. It has a dry and tart finish, but it very refreshing. Lively carbonation with a great palate. It seems like a very natural combination that just makes sense.

Pours alight hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma is fruity with some spice. Taste is sour up front and gives way to a sweetness. Finish is dry.
