Release #17, bottled on 7/26/12. Poured into an Allagash chalice. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a bone-white frothy cap. Fair globs of lace cling to the glass. Sharp scent of spices - coriander, pepper, and a big wallop of apples. This is almost causing my nose to pucker a bit. Carbonation level is moderate, definitely not as spritzy as many in this style tend to be. Not complaining about that at all. Nice mellow finish. There’s enough boldness in flavor to keep this one going. On first sip there’s a big smack of herbs and spices. Coriander, lemon pepper, cinnamon, yeast. A lot going on here. But there is a nice puckering tartness to this as well. With my experience as of late, I thought the apple would be downplayed, but it is far from that. Sour green apples, lemons, limes - all make this nice and tart. It’s not the most enjoyable or flavorful, but it is sour. As this warms this characteristic develops and opens up even more., but I’m presented with another characteristic I don’t care for - nail polish remover. Near the end, this is dang near difficult to finish. I think this one drinks better on the cold side, but that’s just me. Interesting beer.

Pour is a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma at first whiff is apples. Some spice and sugar follow. Flavor is a decent apple. It’s not overly sour but some green apples were used. Finish has more of a cinnamon and sugar with apple left on the tongue. More of a fruit beer than saison but this is a decent summer quencher. People not into beer would probably like this.

On Tap at Beercraft. 8.3%ABV. Not sure which release. Pours a pale yellow color without much of a head. Sour apple flavor and an apple bitterness that lingers.

Pale yellow lightly cloudy. Not very carbonated. No head. Citrus and green apple aroma. Tastes more like a cider than a saison. Strange tart finish.

Bottle pour. Matte lemon color in glass. Nose has a sterile, cleaner things going on. Spruce and pine needles and citrus. Taste pulls through pine notes. Eggnog, nutmeg and apple cider. Uneven.

Draft at Water Street Grille. Bright golden beer with a definitive herbal aspect, even maybe a coriander tilt. The snappy green apple appeal doesn’t make its presence known until the tart finish. Super light, super puckery. Quite nice for a sunny day. (#5533, 6/1/2014)

On tap at Beer Keyaki Spring 2014. A tart green apple aroma, tasty. A rich cloudy gold pour. Medium bodied, silky mouthfeel. The taste is sour, spicy, peppery, tangy apple. Good & refreshing. More apple than saison though.
