22 oz bottle shared. Pours a pale golden color with a thin white head that quickly dissipates. The aroma is fruit, apples and pears, earthy yeast, and herbs. Pretty light body with a thin texture. Flavor is apple juice, cider, yeast, herbs and spices. Sweet, dry and lightly tart. Smooth and easy to drink, I will have to revisit this one in the summer.

I was expecting more sour in this Sour Apple Saison, but it’s definitely more on the clean, dry ale side than expected. That said, it drinks cleanly for such a high ABV farmhouse ale. The apple flavor is subtle through the front with a finish and aftertaste reminiscent of a dry white wine. I would reach for this again in the summer vice the dead of a New England winter. Off to find the next big sour to make watching the snow fall easier on the eyes.

On tap. Hazy golden color with white head. Big cinnamon, allspice, vanilla, apple aromas. Medium body. Golden apple, cinnamon, allspice flavors with spicy yeast, and a pale malt base brew--___good

Appearance: this beer pours with a medium white head that settles into a very small head, the beer is very clear light yellow color Aroma: funky, spicy, possibly licorice, apple, potpourri, Taste: apple, fennel, sour, soft bitter finish, Palate: bitter and fennel aftertaste, average carbonation, lighter mouthfeel Overall: I can’t say I am a fan of these flavors the way they come together, this beer has a certain warmth to it, the fennel or licorice does not mix well with the alcohol or apple, don’t recommend ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pale pour, nice aroma. A lot of sour apple, and very sweet. Refreshing, but a little too sweet for my taste.

Pale golden beer with a medium fizzy bright white head. Sweet-sour nose of cotton candy, citrus, and yeast. Flavor is crisp with a tart apple bite that gives way to layers of sour yeast with spices like clove and black pepper. With fizzy effervescence, this is pretty refreshing, but is lacking some of the characteristics of beer, most noticeably anything resembling hop flavor. Decent though.

Draught @ Flying Saucer, Addison. Clear straw yellow, no head. Hard candy nose. Not so sour, these apples. Saison with lots of hard candy. Meh...

"wish list item that did not disappoint. if they toned down the alcohol just a little on this (it wasn’t hot at all but the body was bigger than most traditional saisons) this could be a prototype for the style. Earthy, dusty, light funk and barn, tart and slightly sweet apple. Very complex and quite tasty. Will buy again."
