Spiral Jetty India Pale Ale is the launching point in our series of hoppy IPA brews. Spiral Jetty IPA has an aggressive hop profile (five different hops used here with two in the dry hop) presenting citrus, floral, resinous or pine aromas and flavors typical of American hops and a nice pleasant, cleansing bitterness on the finish. The dominance of the hops helps to balance the complex malt flavors and the higher alcohol content. Spiral Jetty is our strongest Classic Series ale at 6.6% alcohol by volume, but certainly not our strongest beer.

Bomber. Pours a hazy darker gold to orange with a thick eggshell head that leaves some thick, intricate lacing. Nice hoppy nose with grassy, citrus, hay, honey and sweet grain, and yeasty dough. Fairly sweet flavor, quite bitter. Medium bodied, actively carbed, a touch oily, bright, with a doughy citric bitter finish. Nice brew, mellow compared to hop bombs no doubt, but that’s why it’s a "classic." Reminds me of Anchor Liberty, which I love. Tasty.

This isn’t quite what I thought it’d be. Pours had with a gushing cap. Aroma is enticing: I’m getting bursting hops & wet skunk weed here.. But .... There’s something falling flat on the taste here. There’s also a twang in the carbonation here that steals from the show. Interesting if not a bit underwhelming.

Bottle from Erzbierschof, Bern
Hazy light amber color, with medium head. Mild malt aroma, some grass. Lean mouthfeel; there is an ordinary flavor of caramel with light toffee, very light cereals, lightly biscuity; quite strong bitterness, with resins, but no hop fruitiness.
It has no BBE date, but it must be old.

Good sized bright white head of fine bubbles. Light tangerine aroma with some soft malts and buttery biscuits. Color s a hazy golden orange. Moderate bitterness in the flavor with oranges, flowers, dry dusty grains and some dough. Flavor is good up front then kind of mellows out to not much! An ok IPA.

Very hazy orange - amber beer, tidy pale cream coloured head. Palate is a little dry with fine carbonation. Malt is dry and a little grainy. Medium pine hops with a whisper of citrus. Dry finish, mildly bitter aftertaste. A bit dry and muted.
