UPDATED: OCT 23, 2011 Draft. Sweet aroma and finish, too sweet, too light and not enough barnyard to be a classic saison.

22oz. bottle purchased at GCM, Gilbert, AZ. Pour is thin, clear golden with very small white head. Aroma is fruity with the Belgian yeast quite apparent. Taste is sweet, fruity, with some bitterness. Finish starts sweet and ends bitter. A forgetable saison.

mikey (448) - farmington, Utah, USA - MAR 7, 2012
Pours a hazy light straw yellow with a fluffy white head that settles to a finger sized cap. The nose is of lemon/citrus with clove and yeast funk. The taste starts with nice tart citrus zest. A hint of banana comes next with the slightest touch of a tart funk. Slightly sweet but finishes fairly dry.

Light gold pour, whitish head. Aroma is lightly spiced, stone fruit and yeast. Flavor follows with a nice fruity note, yeast and just the lightest tart notes. NIce stuff!

I want to like this beer more than I did. I so sorely want Utah Craft Beers to explode, and become amazing. This was good, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t what I had hoped for. The components of an American Saison were all there, slightly funky on the finish, big yellow fruit in the middle, dry hay-like noble hop aromas; but they didn’t hang together like I wanted. Where’s the cohesion? Blue, Yellow and Brown are great colors, but they don’t always make Chartreuse. I could be biased because of the awesome beers I brought with me, but I was just a little underwhelmed by this offering. This brewing company has some serious potential, and I feel they are on the right track by maintaining an experimental outlook. As long as they are willing to axe a few beers in their lineup, they could become great.

Bright, hazy, sunny color with a big fluffy two fingers worth of head. Lace was nice and retention was good. Aroma was heavy of the sweet fruity esters, yeast, herbed bready notes. Tastes was sweet and fruity, yeasty and bready. Had a bit more citrus rind than the aroma, but a sweeter than I really like my Saisons. Feel was creamier than crisp, carbonation was median. Not a bad saison at all, but far from my favorite. Still would drink this regularly if available to me.
