Stout looking with a small creamy head. Roasted malt, coffee and sweet aromas. Flavour of roasted coffee and malt with a hint of sweet dark fruit and gentle hop bitterness. Smooth body and dry bitter finish.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 hawthorne00 (1440) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUL 16, 2010
Bottle, 12C. Very dark brown with a dense crema head. Aroma has mild roast, nuts, coffee, nectarines, lychees and a little gooseberry. Certainly quite noticeably hoppy aromatics for a stout. Medium body has some stickiness. Taste has more roasted malt character than suggested by the aroma. Not much fruit taste, but quite a lot of coffee and cocoa. Dry, almost powdery finish is more roasted than hop bitterness. Lacks a little depth but pretty good.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 grapengrain (125) - Havelock North, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 8, 2010
Nice well rounded stout... would have like to see more ’Epic’ hop character though. Lovely to drink but not distinctive.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2010 500 ml bottle
Aroma: mildl bread yeast and strong chocolate & coffee;
Appearance: Deep dark brown, clear, not much head and lacing is excellent;
Taste: Slightly bitter, and a tad sour, failry well rounded
Palate: medium bodied, slightly fizzy, a wee bit sticky;
Overall: It’ll do but this is not in the same league as Mayhem and Armageddon.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 TheGrandMaster (2313) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - MAY 15, 2010
Draught. Roasty dry and plenty of chocolate. The hops are more subtle than you expect from Luke, but it is balanced perfectly with the fruit coming through in the finish. Extremely moreish.
