4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Braudog (5025) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - NOV 11, 2012Bottle. A beautiful, bountiful pour. Hazy, muted orange with a golden tilt, the towering head of bright white, frothy foam hanging around for quite some time. The aroma is super sexy ... sweet and thick with a fresh, spring-time herbal edge. This drinks with a full-on complement of the promised herbal notes ... this would be delicious alongside a Thanksgiving turkey. (#4822, 11/11/2012)

Bottle thanks to a trade! Pours a clear gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has a combination of sage and light flora with with a bit of a grassy backbone. Flavor has more sage with some grass notes and just a hint of flora.

Great aroma.
Orange hue with frothy light head. Moderate lacing.
Very well balance with malt forward but quick to slight acidic and a pleasant, lingering slightly bitter finish.
Excellent with figs. ~m

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Doofgoblin (125) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 3, 2013
The sage aroma is nice and the presence of it in the taste is there too. Other aromas of banana, grass, and citrus. Pours a straw yellow slightly cloudy. Taste is medium sweetness, lightly sour, with notes of sage. Finish is a little smooth, somewhat lingering and ever so slightly acidic. Overall, pretty good with an interesting twist with the sage.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle. Pours a lighter copper with a white head of foam. Great retention. Aroma is effervescent herbal sage with a fruity, Belgian thing going on. Taste is more of that sage. It works great in this beer. Overall, this is a very nice beer with an interesting twist. Very drinkable.

I understand how people may like this one but it is not for me. Hazy golden with a rocky head. Aroma is sage, candied sugars, sage, a bit of yeast spice, and sage. Medium bodied. Flavor is sage, candied sugar, medicinal., mint. It’s just not my thing.

Great American Beer Festival 2012. A dry saison. Well hopped with an earthy quality that I really like, as well as wild grass.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MadRobin (982) - Silver Spring, USA - JAN 15, 2013
Poured from 22 oz. bottle.
Very slightly hazy, sparkling, amber-yellow with large billowing off-white head and very good lacing.
Aroma of sagebrush, pine and citric hops, yeast, spices, eucalyptus and plenty more sage.
Taste of fresh sage, piney hops, other spices, yeast and caramel (when it can sneak through). Although this beer has a complex flavor, it starts and ends with sage.
Medium body and medium carbonation.

22 oz bottle. Release #6. Pours golden and cloudy with a thick, rocky white head that leaves good lacing. Smells floral, earthy, a little like grass and perhaps a bit like ginger ale. (Note: I’m not exactly sure what sage smells or tastes like.) A sort of herbal flavor with a light sweetness and light bitterness with a hint of rosemary and tea. Light body with a thin texture and lively carbonation. Smooth, quick finish that is a bit dry. A solid and interesting saison.
