3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very nice color of a hazy Pineapple juice. Ĺ white head with good retention and lace. Aromas of coriander, hint of apple and wheat. Taste is simple and easy carbonation makes it easy to chug. Coriander and spice upfront, a hint of apple and a twinge of citrus in the finish. Its a nice brew. Is very easy to drink. Looks good, smells good, tastes good. A nice Wit.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Another old-ass (June 2012) beer from Huntington Beach Total Wine...shame on me for not checking the batch number first! - Pours lightly hazy gold with a huge creamy off-white head. Nose is fruity and lightly spicy, with cardamom, coriander and lemon in the forefront. Dry malt with mineral notes. Taste drops off considerably from the surprisingly zesty nose. Itís soapy and a bit sharp and astringent, with alcohol notes and bitter citrus peel. The spiciness is there but not overbearing, and the citrus is prominent throughout. The same dry/mineral malt is in the backbone, but itís overpowered by the sharpness. Body is fairly thin with biting carbonation. Seems like this would have been a pretty nice beer that was likely ruined by sitting on a warm shelf for 8-9 months.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Batch 16: Whitened blonde. Tightly-packed frothy white foam exhibits superb retention. Clean and elegant aromas of cardamom, lemongrass, white pepper, sugar cookie/ginger bread. Faint whiff of airy phenols and flowers. Fine and creamy carbonation. Initially well rounded and slippery with grassy wheat and lemongrass accompanying a pronounced saliva-inducing lactic tartness. Subdued, predominantly floral hops take a backseat to the artful spice medley. Despite their intensity, the tastefully incorporated spices never overwhelm and perfectly compensate for what would otherwise seem like a hollow center. As the tartness gives way to the continuously unfolding spicy richness, a phenolic burst cleanses the palate with a stiff dryness. Highly quaffable due to the sparkling clean attenuation and plethora of elegant subtleties. Wheat-derived twang prevails throughout, though a dainty pils malt toastiness breaks the monotony as it scratches at the tongue and beautifully contrasts with the slicker textures. Some starchiness creeps in as well to augment the body. Finishes potently spicy yet dry and clean as a whistle, with a hint of sugar cookie and lemongrass swirled with a flowery hop signature. Itís always difficult to find a witbier that excites. Most breweries attempting this style tend to cover up the uninspired base beer with excessive spices and foul yeastiness. But this has the huge spice component AND the base beer is rich with detail, nuances, and is cleanly attenuated. And at a very reasonable price of $4 a bomber (not a smashing deal by any means, but much fairer than the vast majority of bombers out there these days), Iíll be quaffing this by the boatload. A positively memorable rendition.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
22 ounce bottle. The aroma and flavor are overloaded with coriander. Malt notes are mild. A thin body with mild carbonation. Not much going on with this beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, release #10 bottled 5/31/2012. Pours lightly hazy golden straw color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of big lemon zest, orange zest, orange rind, coriander, clove, pepper, wheat, ginger, earth, floral, and light herbal. Damn nice aromas with good balance, strength, and complexity. Taste of big lemon zest, orange peel, coriander, ginger, clove, pepper, wheat, bread, floral, earth, grass, and herbal. Lingering notes of citrus, coriander, clove, pepper, ginger, wheat, grass, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic flavor balance and complexity; with a great malt/spice balance; zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium body; with a lightly creamy and very crisp and prickly mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a highly excellent witbier! Great flavor balance and complexity; very smooth a crisp to drink. Highly enjoyable offering; exceeded my expectations.
