Big Dipper is a Honey Nut Cheerio Brown Ale. A recipe designed and brewed by local homebrewer Alex Grote that incorporates Cheerios (yes, real Cheerios) in the mash and a hefty addition of honey in the boil. The aroma has a distinct honey character, with a subtle nuttiness. A rich, toasty malt flavor balances the dryness of the honey.

On tap at the brewery. Poured a deep brown color with mahogany highlights and a moderate off-white head that faded to a ring and left some spotty lacing. Aroma of honey, graham cracker, cereal grain, and some light chocolate. Smooth, sweet entry with some honey and cereal grain that transitions into a lightly roasted maltiness with some light hints of chocolate that linger into the lightly dry finish with some soft hints of hops with lingering honey nut cherrios. Low carbonation and smooth mouth feel. Overall, I thought the honey nut cherrio thing would get lost in the beer, but surprisingly it didnít. It isnít a big standout, but itís different and enjoyable enough.

A nice hop forward brown ale. Light hop range with a light burnt grain bite. Well done brown. Nice mouthfeel. Nice toasted grain aroma. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Equinox. Amber brown appearance with a light tan head. Nutty, light brown malty nose. Quite sweet hazelnut extract syrupy, vanilla, brown malty flavor. Quite sweet, syrupy mouth feel. Not all that good.
