   AROMA 8/10   APPEARANCE 3/5   TASTE 8/10   PALATE 4/5   OVERALL 15/20
BlackForestCO (978) - Aurora, Colorado, USA - APR 9, 2011
On tap at the brewery. Poured a clear copper-orange color with a thin off-white head that faded to a layer. Fresh, dank, leafy hop aroma with some bright citrus fruit (grapefruit and orange). Smooth, crisp entry with an immediate dry bite with some light fruit leads into a fresh, leafy, oily hoppiness with some more crisp citrus fruit (orange and lightly tart grapefruit) that linger into the finish where just a hint of malt peaks through. Low carbonation and biting dryness from the hops creates a crisp, overly drinkable beer for the abv. Overall, itís one dimensional, but itís damn good. Itís dry and bitter without being abrasive, and it is fresh as hell. Good showing.

Pour on tap at the brewery, clear orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of big dank, pine, grass, some floral, herbal notes into a bit of biscuit, bread, but very hop forward. Taste is a mix of grass, biscuit, bread, hints of floral, herbal, slight dank, pine notes, slight earthy spice notes, finishing fairly bitter.

On tap at the brewery. Big citrus hop aroma. Medium bitterness balanced by rich and sweet malts. Slight mint flavor with a medium body and a dry, lingering finish. Smooth and savory.

On tap @ Equinox. Slightly hazy, burnt orange appearance with a light tan head. Big citrusy (orange, grapefruit) hoppy nose. Orange citrusy hoppy flavor on a pronounced sweet maltiness. Tasty citrusy hoppy finish. One of their best offerings yet.

Growler poured a hazy orange amber with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of pine, tropical fruit, grapefruit, tangerine and light biscuit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of biscuit, pine, earthiness, grapefruit and light tropical fruit with a smooth dry moderatly bitter lingering fruity finish.
