sleepylopes (264), New York, USA Apr 8, 2008 aroma of fruit stones and crushed brick. Thin head sits atop a near black ocean of beer. A floral note stands out against the the rest of the nose, daffadill maybe. Very nice ballanced although it is not super strong, perhaps thin even.
MakeItDrinkIt (50), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 11, 2008 Dark brown color with a medium to strong light tan head. Aroma is rich and fruity, lightly yeasty, bits of caramel. Flavor is well balanced, like a big brown ale. Not sweet, not too bitter, hints of Belgian heritage. Nice, but not great. joohefner (379), Isla Vista, California, USA Jun 24, 2008 Pours a dark burgundy with a slim frothy head. It has a dark fruit aroma with some caramel and spiced chocolate notes. Medium thick, viscous body. Chocolate comes out more in the flavor, followed by some caramel raisins and a faint spiciness. The beer has a bittersweet finish. Fairly sweet but good if you dont want an overly spicy winter beer. kp (6000), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Jun 11, 2008 Date: 06/10/2008

CaptainCougar (4601), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jun 10, 2008 Pours a transparent dark copper with a nicely-lacing light tan head. Biscuity nose has some dry dark caramel, mild raisin and milk chocolate notes. Body starts with decent fullness and dry, toasty dark caramel maltiness before a earthy bittersweet finish. Smooth, but could use a little more sweetness. stoutlover72 (1315), NorCal, California, USA May 30, 2008 The theme for our last tasting was "find out how many mediocre beers we can squeeze into one night of tasting". OK, so that wasn’t the official theme but that’s how it went. And this beer went right along with it. The beer pours out a mahogany brown color, cloudy with a good-sized 2-finger head. First whiffs I get lots of chocolate in the aroma. Fruit, spices, roasted malts fill in the remaining notes. Flavor profile is pretty much on par with the aroma. It didn’t stray to far from what the aroma established and that was okay. Decent beer, but nothing special really.
