Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
Name changed from Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel to Erdinger Dunkel, and abv changed from 5.6% to 5.3% by 2012.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Nutty, sweet, caramel, roasty, slight bitterness of hops. Nice floatiness texture from yeast. Almost tastes like root beer. I like regular Erdinger Hefeweizen better though but definitely a nice dark wheat beer.

From bottle at Krambua, Trondheim. Hazy brown. Foamy and persistent pale brown head. Fruity, but moderate aroma with nuts, dried berries and some sourness. Similar taste, with banana and noticeable malt.

Espuma abundante. Color ambar oscuro. Aroma neutro.

Brown, hazy, beige head falling down to thin ring. Aroma of caramel and some yeasts and faint banana. Taste sweet, caramel, weizen-like but watery texture. Closer to schwarzbier.

Bottle 50cl. Cloudy dark brown, lot of small bubbles, good frothy beige head, diminishes slowly, fair lacing; sweet roasted malt aroma, brown sugar, caramel, taste medium sweet, slightly bitter, hint of acidity, light malty, wheaty, medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, mild and light sweet aftertaste, rather watery (but not thin); though a quaffable beer not a good example of a Dunkelweizen.

0,5 l bottle at home, without food. Usually I like wheat beer but this was to ordinary with a bit burned taste and dry afrer taste. At the moments nice but overall not to interesting for me. Probably is going much better with food.
