A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

From bottle in Xiamen, China. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a big tan head that dissipates quickly leaving no lacing to speak of. Aroma of caramel and biscuit. Taste is caramel, biscuit, very lightly sweet and almost no hoppy bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and good carbonation. Slightly sweet, slightly bitter finish.

500ml bottle. Pours dark brown with a big beige head that disappears pretty quickly. Darker than your standard dunkelweizen. Aroma of caramel malts, very slight hint of banana. Tastes of roastiness, some coffee, doesn’t have the usual fruitiness that I have come to expect from dunkelweizens. Slight sourness. it is unusual for the style in my opinion.

Aroma of hay and herbs. Pours very dark brown with big head. Very mild bitter taste. Full bodied, oily texture, with lively carbonation. Overall it looks like a dark beer but tastes quite close to other weizen beers.

Dark brown colour, huge head of beige. Aroma of roasted malts, raisins, clove. Light to medium body. Sweet taste which is similar to aroma. The ending is not so obvious. it’s a good beer by something makes me be a little bit disappointed.
