2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Dark grey brown pour with a soapy off white head. Nose is of cloves and coffee, with some of those powdery yeast aromas. In the mouth is all very mild; not much sweetness, not much bitterness, not much Weiss or anything. But it’s balanced in its not much of anything-ness. Carbonation feels a bit too spritzy and the mouthfeel is thin. Good enough to drink but perhaps a little bit pointless.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a light brown looking brown in the glass, a fluffy slightly tanned head is produced. Aroma is wheat malts, some light toasted notes and faint fruity yeasty notes. Taste is well balanced, a little sweet at first, then rounds of nicely with a subtle bitter touch. Has a creamy mouthfeel even tho the co2 level is quite high.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500ml bottle served in a Weizen glass.
A: Pours a dark brown color forming a huge beige head. Big bubbled. Good retention and some chunky and soapy lacings left in the glass.
S: Strong notes of roasted malts and wheat. Very bready. Strong notes of caramel and crystal malts. Earthy notes. Hints of grassy hops in the end.
T: Slightly sweet upfront. Strong notes of crystal and Munich malts. Roasted malts and wheat. Light bitterness: a mix of grassy hops and roasted malts bitterness. Earthy yeasts.
M: Medium body. Smooth and creamy. Medium carbonation. Crystal malts and wheat in the aftertaste.
O: Good drinkability.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Faint banana bread with an apple in the background aroma. Some roasted malt too. Heavy brown color. Super off white head that seems last forever. Roasted malt with a tangy fruit on the other side of taste buds. Sweet and refreshing. Finish on the clean wet side with only a hint of roast malt.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
I am not good analyzing malt aromas, but I think that wheat malt gives some banana (bananish =D) aroma. Feeling on palate is smooth with crispy end.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours two fingers of light tan head on a dark brown body.
The aroma is caramel and damp grains.
The taste has lots of caramel sweetness, though nicely balanced by a light bitterness.
The texture is smooth with a light fizz.
It smells great and tastes nice.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
- Alcoholpercentage van 5,3%
- Redelijk biertje destijds gedronken
- Niet verkeerd, maar heb naar mijn smaak veel lekkerder biertjes gedronken
- Vandaar mijn niet al te hoge waardering uiteindelijk

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Hazy dark brown with huge beige head. Not much aroma, but some sweet vanilla and cinnamon notes. For a weissbier there is little of the usual banana and clove taste. Some sweetish roasted malt flavours. Could be good with a rich meal of German-style roasted pork, but a little bland when drunk without food. A slightly disappointing beer.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark brown body and a medium head that dissipated quite quickly for a weizen beer. Aroma of roasted malts and plum. Easy to drink with soft carbonation.
I can’t really taste the weizen in this, only dunkel. And there is the whole problem. I just can’t see how is this considered a (dunkel)weizen if there are no signature banana/spice/clove notes. I’m trying hard, but I shouldn’t be, especially because Erdinger is considered to be the flagship of the style, at least in the eyes of the media. Maybe I’d overlook this and call this a decent dunkel if it was named differently, but it wasn’t supposed to be.
