COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
Name changed from Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel to Erdinger Dunkel, and abv changed from 5.6% to 5.3% by 2012.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Pours a dark brown colour with a tan head. Aroma of caramel, spruce and som woody notes. Taste is quite earthy, together with caramel and chocolate. Low bitter finish, and soft carbonation. A tad too sweet, but it’s not a big problem. Overall a good dunkel, but as many other dunkles, maybe a bit too farward and boring.

Poured murky dark brown with small tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Medium malt flavour with coffee. Smooth mouthfeel. Flavour didn’t last and almost seemed thin and weak after a few mouthfulls. O.K, but I didn’t notice anything memorable.

Dark brown color, medium beige head. Aroma of roasted malts with some notes of yeast, coffee and dark fruits. Taste is dry with wheat, caramel and some spices. Watery body and high carbonation. Overall OK and refreshing, but too light.

GIJOE (127) - Monterey, California, USA - MAR 16, 2013
Murky brown with a bubbly head that's gone quickly. Smell is faint hops and that slight sourness typical of wheat beers. Taste is a pleasantly sour on the tongue with sweet malt fading in and holding. Light bodied beer with lively carbonation. Takes me back to Germany! Good brew! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

500ml bottle. Dark brown almost black colour. Large off white head. Light sweet aroma. Deep, robust flavour. Good beer, better than the the standard Erdinger Weissbier.

Nicer than the kristall one. Some coffee in this one. Will enjoy again if there is only falcon around.
