A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Caramel and toffee are prominent on the nose. Coca cola body, almost ruby. Soapy head that doesnt hang around, maybe poured poorly by staff. I love the caramel malt flavours, a bit over carbonated but still damn smooth. Slight bitterness as well. Nice beer.

Pours a dark reddish chocolate with a huge, long lasting off white head. Aromas of roasted malt, wheat, grass, yeast. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel, a hint of bitterness, nice malt body albeit a bit lighter than expected but not hindering the experience imo. Will have again.

Aroma; dark wheat malts, citrus, apple, grass, faint hints of liver oil. Light beige bumpy standing head, brown bubbly body, spread lacings. Taste; toffee malts, flourish grains, some hops, notes of plums. To palate a little dry, slightly mealy. Finishes with light chocolate, grass, hops, grains, dark bread. Overall easy to drink, both chilled and served at a bit higher temperature. (Bought 1/2L btl abv5.3% (4002103248545) Erdinger Dunkel at Systembolaget, tasted at home Norway)

Nice dark weizen. A bit weaker than expected and the yeast/wheat flavor is lacking a bit. Pour is a nice dark color but the head is gone instantly.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein trübes braunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch hefig, röstmalzig, leicht fruchtig würzig. Geschmack hefig, leicht würzig, leicht fruchtig.

Appearance is opaque dark brown with a large foamy beige head with lasting retention. Aroma of malt and bread. Taste of malt, bread, plums and a hint of caramel. Light sweetness and bitterness. Light body, smooth texture and average carbonation. Looks appealing in the glass, but is watery with a weak taste and a faint aroma.

Bottle: light haze, brown, good head and lace. Very lifted. Fruity, berry, dry fruit, malt and esters. Dry, not sour or bitter. High carbonation gives a fresh palate. Nice flavor. Mid weight but long and fine. Excellent flavor. Full of finesse. Dry fruit and ripe berries. No hint of roast. Dark but refreshing.

500ml bottle. Pours a rich brown with heavy carbonation with a very large, four finger, tan, bubbly head. Very fizzy. Floral aroma with caramel notes. Cloudy, opaque brown after the head died down. Lightly sweet, with a hint of chocolate. Little to no bitterness with a mouthful. Creamy texture with a delicate, slightly bitter, short finish. Nice.
