A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

@ Röhälla 151230. Bottle (500 ml) from Systembolaget. Malty and sweet caramely with fruity notes, medium body with an oily texture. The finish is sweet and malty.

SB beställning, flaska. Måttligt skum. Liten arom. Spritsig som sig bör. Tunn efter en Ayinger doppelbock. Vacker i glaset. Frisk och hyfsad fruktbränd smak. Inte mycket kvar efter SB:s behandling.

Bottle at The Hop Inn, Newcastle-Under-Lyme. Pours a deep brown colour with a thick, foamy off white head. Aroma of bready malt, some chocolate, caramel, slight nuts, subtle caramel and a little cola. Taste of bready malt, some chocolate, caramel, slight yeast, subtle banana, a little cola and maybe late spice. Medium bodied and a lively texture. A bittersweet, bready, chocolatey bitterness in the finish. A dunkel with a lot of bready malt and chocolate flavours, a little spice in there too. Gassy but enjoyable.

From bottle. Beer temperature 8°C. Light roasted aroma, whitout hops and strong, litlle bit brown head. Nice brown color, Cloudy. Missing Yeast taste and ussual taste of wheat too. I feel only medium taste of rostaed barley and nothing else. No hops. Light/medium body. average carbonation. rosted finnish. Fine beer for hangover. It cures me but not impressed me (except of overall visage in cup)

Veel subtiele smaakjes en mooie balans, beetje waterig maar dat staat m wel goed. Fijn dat ’t niet heel zoet is. Backlog from 2015/01/27.

Malty aroma. Watery and slightly malty flavor. OK bitterness which fills the upper part of the mouth a weak moment. Good but too watery. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Draft at Broken Barrel while I waited for my Thanksgiving day pickup. Haz, medium brown with a medium sized off white head. Grainy, bready and very faint chocolate malt aroma. Moderately "rich" malt but not like a cloying marzen. Taste is similar with nuanced banana and vanilla. subtle on the clove. Overall, I really enjoyed this beer, but I think there might have been a light bump due to drinking a great beer at lunch time.
