Name changed from Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel to Erdinger Dunkel, and abv changed from 5.6% to 5.3% by 2012.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Very Nice beer. Reminds me of a more well rounded Castle Milk Stout. Not that much of a head but a moderately rich flavour and goes down very well. Almost no fruityness, a solid stout this one.

Black, with yellow thick foam. Mild mild aroma, with a hint of hay and fruit. Mild taste, a little sour, hay, malt, with almost no bitterness in the aftertaste, perhaps a little burned coffee tones there, high in carbon. Nothing special

500ml bottle, barcode 4002103248545. Appearance is opaque dark brown with a large foamy beige head with lasting retention. Aroma of malt and bread. Taste of malt, bread, plums and a hint of caramel. Light sweetness and bitterness. Light body, smooth texture and average carbonation. Looks appealing in the glass, but is watery with a weak taste and a faint aroma. Overall okay but disappointing.
