COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Ingredients: Water; wheat malt; barley malt; roasted malt; hops; yeast.
Name changed from Erdinger Weissbier Dunkel to Erdinger Dunkel, and abv changed from 5.6% to 5.3% by 2012.
A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

Like a banoffee pie, if a banoffee pie were served with beer flavoured ice-cream. Great beer!

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a kaki head. Roasted malt aromas. Mellow with mold roasted malts, caramel, and chocolate malt notes. Not complex, but tasty. Good mouthfeel with an average body.

Very dark color, hazy liquid. Looks like black coffee. Lively carbonation. Light to medium body. Watery. Not my favorite Erdinger, probably the worst one.

BOTTLE 50CL from a flea market. :) Look: hazy chestnut brown with a big beige frothy head. Aroma: slightly fermented fruit, mild caramel, toast and malt breadiness. Taste: caramel, wheat tartness, brown malts.

Scopey (5557) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 11, 2014
Bottle in Frankfurt. It pours hazy deep brown with a thick beige head. The nose is earthy, toasted brown sugar, caramel, dried fruits, wood and faint spice. The taste is toasty, caramel, raisin, sultana, date, brown sugar, wood, earth and light bitterness with a dry toasty finish. Medium body and high carbonation. Not a whole lot of depth to it, but rather drinkable and easy going.

500ml bottle from Tesco in Windsor. Muddy brown murky beer. Pissy aroma. Tastes better than it smells. Couldn’t be worse right! Cocoa and banana. Smooth but a bit dull in the end.

Handsome chestnut brown big head. Aroma of tang choco raspberries some spice. Tastes big malt soy sauce some spice and slight choco. Creamy palate. Smells better than it tastes. Would rather have a weis.

A bit of a disappointment, nothing special. Bread aroma, little sweetness, fizzy carbonation. Boring.
