A wheat beer from the good old days.
Erdinger Weissbier ’dark’ is a rich and smooth wheat beer specialty from Erdinger Weissbräu. It owes its full-bodied flavor to the fine hops and dark malt used in its production.
The dark beer specialty is brewed according to an age-old recipe. Its spicy flavor also results from the increased proportion (about 13%) of original wort. Nonetheless, at 5.3%, it doesn’t contain much more alcohol than Erdinger Weissbier ’with fine yeast’.

On the finish a lovely dunkel...the nose is too wort-ish for my taste. Toffee, I think not coffee as others have commented. All in all a lively beer on a coolish summer night hearkening to the coming Oktoberfest beers of September... a nice gateway drug

cherry lactic on the nose followed by lightly creamed pecan pie and sugar plums sporting little rusted razor blades coated in baby powder aftertaste. Within the long, forgotten afterwards licorice stubs, tamed by cleanliness, patiently punch out of near oblivion.

Aus der Flasche bei meinem Albaner getrunken. Durch eine leichte Röstnote werden die bananigen Hefearomen verdrängt. Gut so!!!!

Bottle in wine glass. This dunkel is a good example of German subtlety and balance when it comes to beer. Nothing off just a mild and clean brew that fits many purposes. Cheers.

Dark brown color with compact off white head. Some caramel, bit overall very mild in everything, and it tastes old, or possibly it hasn’t been poured from the tap for the whole day. Very low bitterness, sweetish final, lightly soapy. Lack of character overall.

Bottle 0.5l. Brown and hazy with huge and creamy head. Aroma is caramel, burned cake, flowers, honey, white cheese, sugar. Strong but soft carbonation. Watery but fluffy mouth feel. Taste is light to medium intensive. Mostly caramel cake dough dry sweetness and clove finish. Some banana is perceptible. Easy to drink and not horrible at all.

Murky deep brown color with strong brownish foam. Aromas initialy like cheap pale lager. Some very light darker malt tones and maybe lightly metallic? Plain and watery smell! Palate, light body with smooth texture and some noticable carbonation leaving watery rye bread finish. Taste is sweet and watery of rye bread, and some darker malts mixed with a lot of water. Overall, not too sure... Very watery, highly carbonated, and not amazing.

Gehbe (119) - Vilnius, LITHUANIA - JUN 23, 2016
Frothy light brown head, little lacing. Aroma: caramel, clove, cream, toffee, hints of coffee and chocolate and cured banana, some cooked bread, yeast. Taste: light sweetness an light tartness upfront and throughout, hints of roasty bitterness in aftertaste. High carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Fairly refreshing for a dark ale, but lacks complexity.
